Small town cops and judges have nothing better to do. If he was operating in a large city he might never been caught, or get off easy if he did.

I went to bb.com and they confirmed it was Big Red HH and then they deleted the thread. I feel sorry for him, but somewhere along the lines he mouthed off to the wrong peeps. Probably someone who should not have known his business. loose lips sink ships.

If all the gear he had fit into a gutted VCR then it couldnt have been an extraordinary amount or anything. Seems like every steroid bust has some kind of other narcotic with it.

Law enforcement makes the mistake of thinking AAS are dosed the way regular drugs are. They see a bag full of 500 Thai D-bols tabs, and they think "this guy is a dealer", they don't realize D-bol is not ecstacy and a bodybuilder can chew 4-6 tabs per day and clean that bag in two cycles.

In the book "Legal Muscle", Rick Collins went through quite a bit of material demonstrating how LE and the prosecutors are phenominally ignorant not only about the quanities of stuff but the real street value of things.

I hope for his sake he was smart enough to get a lawyer who knows this really well or is in contact with Rick's team through this.

rec drugs were probably around and they figured they would go after this guy.

$29 large in cash doesn't spell small fish. Not Huge fish, but in that part of the country he is a trophy for law enforcement. He'll probably get 10 years anyway, probabtion maybe since he was in college, but I feel for him.

A friend of mine gor busted with a 10ml bottle of Test. Prop. And I never did find out what happened with the case. All of the sudden hes asking me to get him EQ. LOL I told him stright up, I think hes turned into a narc, and if he was my friend he would never ask me for anything again, if my friendship meant anything to him. Havnt talked to him since. Too many people are too careless and are out there for self gain.

yep, very true. 99% of steroid busts like that are usually associated with rec drugs.

some idiot with a meth lab or selling E on the side, or making GHB Etc...
 
To convict Jason of dealing, the prosecutor will have to prove that he had intent to distribute. And here's where Bodybuilding.com comes in. At this point, it's safe to assume that Big Red HH's entire Personal Message history has been subpoenaed along with all of his threads on Bodybuilding.com's Discussion Forums. And if not subpoenaed already, it probably will be soon. Hopefully, Bodybuilding.com will hire a lawyer and turn over only Big Red's PM's and Posts -- not the entire forums database and everyone's PM's along with it.

For Jason to get off, he'll probably try to prove that the steroids that were found were for personal use. And as attorney Rick Collins points out in his book Legal Muscle, law enforcement much of the time has no idea how different steroids are from recreational drugs in terms of what would constitute an amount appropriate for personal use. In other words, 100 D-Bol is a lot different than 100 ecstasy. The other way Jason could make his situation better would be to rat out someone or several someones. He could try to plea bargain his sentence down in exchange for names. If he were to go this route, the implications for the members of BodyBuilding.com's Forums could be quite serious. In fact, Detective Lt. Gerald Driscoll said that "This is an ongoing investigation."

I think you guys would be surprised at just HOW much you can claim as personal use with the right defense team...
A high prospect BB'er out in California got off a few years ago as "personal use" for amounts probably around what this guy had (and rec drugs to boot...)...And never severed any time as his lawyers proved it was for a high level competitor to use these amounts for his upcoming cycle for a high level contest...
 
Don't you think he was probably using his Modship at BB.com to solicit business -- I think that this is what the prosecutor will try and show.
 
My guess is that there were undercover agents who bought from Big Red. This is the easiest and most effective way to prove distribution. You never know who is an agent!

Honestly here where I am from, most of the law enforcement closes their eyes to steroids as far as trying to bust on it. Most of them are bangin' the stuff themselves and they don't want to bring on heat. This guy must have been selling to a large amount of people and being careless. The quantity of substance that he was dealing with is what brought on the bust......its obvious. Most of the small timers that use it for personal use and supply their friends, don't have the kind of cash that he had in his residence.

In response to the last few post, the ball is going to be in the prosecution's court because most judges or juries don't use steroids and they will not understand the concept of 100 dbols not being the same as a 100 hits of x. To them, a controlled substance is a controlled substance no matter what it is. To us, it may not be the same, but to them it is. Honestly, in my opinion, he is fucked!!! I hate to say it and I hate to see somebody go down like this, but I don't think the dream team could get him out of this one :worried:

Was he even dealing online?, or just locally?

I assume he was not doing it out in the open (and all via secure email contact), so saying he was soliciting through his trusted postion would be a stretch for them to prove beyond a reasonable doubt imo...

Then again we are only seeing a snipit of info here, and I am sure there is more to this than any of us here probably know about...

That damn Legal Muscle book has me looking at everything these days like I am a damn attorney :o :p
 
I can assure you that there is no shadow of doubt in this case. Whether it was online sales or in person sales, they had to make a buy from him to be able to charge him with dealing.
 
Although a good point, one state is California, and the other is Maine. I have a buddy who moved out to Maine and is working as a fisherman. And in the community hes in, from what hes told me they are very very conservative.

3 rules to live by :

1- Don't do source business through PMs.
2 - Don't use or deal with anyone involved with rec drugs.

Not only that, but the guy was probably dealing locally. That is a surefire way to get caught. He shoulda kept it online only and not put his pictures all over the net and ran his mouth. This story is unfortunate, but a clear reminder of what NOT to do when in this game.

IF - "if" - it is his first offense, he will probably fall back on the First Offender Amendment and get probation. That is 99% chance of happening.

I know two people who were busted for drugs. One guy had 7 amps of sust. The other guy had 300 (10 bottles) of Pfizer Viagra, 2x500 count bottles of Lortabs, 1000 (bulk bottle) of Valium 10mg and 200 Xanax tabs.

Here in Florida they both got the same sentence. $1500 fine. 200 hours community service. 5 years probation. 1 year of 2x weekly narcotics anonymous meetings - because the first guy had sust which is injectible and required needles, he had to attend 6 months detox counseling 3x a week in the afternoons. Same as a herion addict. (spent the other 2 days doing the NA).

I don't think the guy is going to get jail time.

Totally true.

Big Red will either get...

1.) A possible first offender Pretrial Intervention program, with probation, counseling, and fines.
2.) If he's commited a prior 4th degree crime, possible community service, probation, counseling, and fines.
OR
3.) If his record is truly bad, he'll receive jail time, probation, community service, and large fines. And, however, if his attorney is experienced, he can expect little or no jail time.

Possibilities one and two are more likely than three. Furthermore, if he knows a lot of inside information, a plea agreement will certainly be on the table.

theyll try to get him to roll on some people or his source... if he has a lawyer that wont work....then they try to have him work with them...if that wont work..itll go to trial...then theyll likely cut a deal for some probation...and you can count that he wont be that big once he gets his monthly piss test...i speak from experience...similar situation happened to a friend...not with gear but other controlled substances..either way its a big waste of our tax dollars when we should be focusing on more important issues right now...

im in california and i have my own mexicans, lol. and yesterday we were playing tag and i couldnt catch them, so i would say they were pretty untouchable. just playin im half so im touchable i guess, lol. hahahahhaha

WOW! I worked out at the same gym as him. I feel bad that he got busted for juice, don't get me wrong but this dude was way over the top. The gym I work out in is very small and their was probably 4 or 5 local cops and one statey working out at the same time as me and him were their. Jay was loud obnoxious in the gym and people were just looking at each other like WTF. If he was a nice guy maybe I would feel worse!
 
What really pisses me off is that this shit is illegal to start with. I am sure a big percentage of the "evidence" never even makes it to the evidence room. Shit, I guess if Ronnie Coleman can be drug free, then we all should be too....lol !!!
 
very good thread. no one brought up the point that... having any amount of cash over 10,000 is a somewhat serious crime. a felony i believe. you are supposed to use bank notes for that. he must have been selling local and not over the internet because if he was being watched for selling over the net, then it would not have been local police involved. i believe he will rat out his source. ronnie coleman was a part time cop wasnt he?
