I used to train with a dude around your size.......I always told him his knees were like rocks (when he checked my kicks). Funny thing is for his size, he had NO power in his hands. Never understood that one?

That's a bold statement coming from someone who hasn't competed at their level, brother.Djimbe said:Arlovsky (like MOST of the MMA world) strikes like a child - literally like one of my first or second year students , and Fedor is good Despite his weight , not because of it - rather like Dempsey or Marciano .

Djimbe, I just want to point out bro, is that the dudes in PRIDE make waaay more money than 116k. UFC is the one you gotta hate for the shitty way they pay their fighters. PRIDE and K1 is where the money is. Although UFC does shell out 250K to names like Couture /Liddell (though the bottom guys get like 5k a fight which is just ridiculous).

MMA isn't for the weak or faint hearted, it's a dedication, an investment. The reason why there are people fighting and getting paid crap money, is because THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT THE MONEY! It's not about that, they are there because they want to be. I'd rather do something I love and get paid minimum wage than bartend or drive a cab and get paid a decentwage.
"You train MA not to get hit?" Yeah, doesn't everyone?Last time I checked, not getting hit is a main idea in MA. Anyone can walk into a dojo and train in MA. Putting your skills to the test against someone else is a different story. I think they call that competition.
I don't get paid a dime to play football in college. As a matter of fact I find myself paying out money to play (for warm-ups, other football gear, time going out to practices, time away from studying). I'll be damned if I quit football and get a job because I'm not making good money.
To each his own, though.
