Milk while cutting: yes or no

dairy products make you smooth...it's that simple...it's one of the first things cut out during contest prep...and yes smart ass any sugar will hinder your diet...fructose/dextrose/glucose/lactose/sucrose...they are all sugars...and most people with an IQ over 100 cut those out when dieting

I did a little 3-4 week "kick" where I dropped dairy, excluding yogert =).

Did not notice much difference at all. My bodyfat is under 8%.

But I guess If your pre-contest, doesnt hurt to try.

If you want to drink it, I would try to take it down to the lowest percentage that you can. For every 1% that you increase in milk, your colesterol raises 100 points. Milk is good shit, but it contains a lot of fat.

Oh, and yes I know milk has lactose lol... are you saying anything that ends with -ose makes you "smooth?" lol Glucose? Fructose? Sucrose? So you're saying we shouldn't ingest these either huh? lol Anybody with an IQ over 100 have an opinion?

Yes anything that ends in ose makes you smooth. Sugar I.E. OSE is not good for getting ripped. I live at 6.5% and I weigh 235# and I do not drink milk or eat much sugar. If you are trying to get really lean cut out dairy & other sugars. I cut it out completly 5 months before a show and I am ALWAYS ripped to the bone. Ask anyone here who is Plat. and have seen my pics. I know what I am talking about. Cottage cheese is cool off season because most of the lactose has been removed.

I don't think sugar is so much the issue with Milk, especially nonfat/skim, but it seems to be more of a problem to those that are sodium sensitive. Most dairy products have a shit load of sodium in them. Myself and others others have no problems with milk when leaning up (nonfat), but we kick it out the last 2 weeks before an event to decrease water retention from the sodium. The only thing that really makes you fat is eating too damn much.

AMEN FOR BMJ

It has nothing to do with the sugar unless you drink an assload of it.....milk, as all dairy products will do, bloats and retains water..... beacuse of high amounts of calcium and sodium.....if you don't want to look puffy no dairy especially skim milk.......they take out the fat and add sodium for taste.... no dairy 4-6 weeks out from a show, I know it sucks...I Love milk but.....no more for me in 3 weeks.......PEACE

O.k., o.k., so the consensus seems to be that PRE-CONTEST, dairy products should be eliminated... however, let's keep in mind that the vast majority of us don't compete, and that pre-contest dieting is notoriously quite drastic, and impractical to follow on a long-term basis (not to mention unhealthy). I guess what I meant to ask is that if one is looking to shed some fat over many months and/or maintain this kind of "diet" long-term, what is the place for dairy products in the nutritional regime? Surely it must be somewhat different than "cutting" for a contest right? Thanks for the input everyone.
