Hell yeah...Rangers bitches :Chef:

I spent 5 years Air Force...would go back in a heartbeat. I had a great time, got my education, traveled for free. Couldn't say anything bad about my experience. Plus i was single and always had a great time. It felt like I spent 5 years in summer camp. BUT....a couple of my friend who went Marines....had a TOTALLY different view. It all depends on what you make of it.

I served 20 years in the Army. There are times when you hate it and times when you love it. You will make friends that you will have for the rest of your life. You will do things and go places that most guys could never imagine. You will also put your life at risk. It's really not about who the President is; I served under Carter, Reagan, Bush and Clinton. It's not about the political policies. It's about the fact that you as an American decide to go and sacrifice and serve just like our fathers and grandfathers did. I personally don't want to hear people say shit if they haven't served. But it isn't going to college or getting a bonus or anything like that. It is about serving your country, period. You have to decide if you are willing to give up part of your life, or your whole life, for your country and not expect anything else in return. Take the example of Pat Tillman. Or, chose not to serve and go about your daily life while other men do it for you.

Sorry if I'm posting in the wrong section, I'm just looking for advice wherever I can find it...
I've been battling with the idea of joining the military since I was 18, I'm now 23. I just can't seem to get over the need to help in some way if I can. To cut right to the chase, those of you who are in the military, do you feel like you have made a difference? I really dont like Bush or his agenda, but I feel that in order to have peace with myself, I need to know that I've helped other people in some way. The older I get, the more that I feel a duty to help those not as priviledged as us. I'm not some young yahoo who has the wrong idea of war and all of it's atrosities, I feel that I know as much as I can about it and I'm definatly not looking for glory or anything like that, I just want to help. So I guess my question to the military guys is, would you do it again if you had the chance? Thanks to everyone in advance, as this is something that has been ripping at me for a very long time and I'm about to make a final decision.

I couldn't have said it any better..Whoa!!!!! Yo Bro when I first saw your picture of Pat Tillman on here it gave me chills! He left millions of dollars to serve his country, our country USA! Rangers Lead the Way...Always!!!

I like Pat Tillman, but he isnt the first athlete to go to war, what makes his sacrifice more noble is that todays athletes are more selfish

Yes your right but not many Pro athlete went Special Forces of any type that I know of. Also his sacrifice isn't anymore than any Man that leave his wife, kids, family, & dog to go fight for his Country, but I still Love him! Man I missed my Dog!!!!

i personally think all men that live in the united states, should be REQUIRED to join the military for an amount of time. It really is a privelage to live here, let alone be born here. People just don't realize the luxuries we have came @ a price.

The only reason i'm not in the armed forces was they wouldn't let me because of my asthma.. but i still went and tried, and damn near died of an asthma attack during the running portion... if i ever outgrow my asthma i'm gonna go back and pass :-)

You say should be REQUIRED and you didn't even serve I know you had asthma, but I had issues to medical and legal and got in. It just doesn't sound right to me for somebody to say required and not put in one day. I was infantry at the 101st airborne division.

What other modern day athlete with a muti-million contract and college degree joined the Army as infantry then later became a ranger. Uh nobody.
