1. Apparently freedom of speech isn't about government censorship, it is about social censorship. I had no idea.

2. If enough people are intimidated by something, it is ok to remove any reference of it and protection for it it from the bill of rights. Apparently intimidation trumps legal protections. I just hope people don't get intimidated about that whole 'women voting' thing, I'd hate to see that go too. But if enough people find it scary, then so long.

Kramer's lynching comments were bothersome though. It sounded like he was saying '50 years ago we could've lynched you but now you are brave enough to talk'

And that's why a racial insult toward an African American is more biting and inappropriate than it would be toward a white person. Fifty years ago, in some circles, they probably *could* have been linched. We are barely one generation past legalized, institutionalized racism toward blacks.

I'm sure Mel Brook's joke in "History of the World Part I" about: "Your majesty! The pesants are revolting!" and he says: "You're telling me. They stink on ice!" wasn't all that funny two weeks after the French revolution either.

I didnt benefit in any way from slavery, but you know who did? Every black person living in the United States today. So instead of crying all the time about how whitey is racially profiling you, just be thankfull, your ancestors might not have had to bare your burden, and you could still be living where the black man isnt under the white mans oppression..in poverty, hunger stricken Africa.
Hundreds of years ago something terrible happened but that has nothing to do with you or me so quit accepting a double standard. Because your ancestors struggled, doesnt give you immunity to call me whatever you want and not have to expect me to do the same.
