metabolic rate

endpoint

New member
I am having a "brain fart" and struggling to find some basic information.

I posted something similar on the diet board......but no answer.

pulling a magic figure.....lets say ten pounds out of the air.

if i were to gain 10 pounds of muscle, how much will my daily caloric need increase?

I am having a shocker of a day......and cant remember a thing, or find anything

It varies. Through trial and error, I have discovered that my magic number is 10. My lean mass x 10 is the cals I need to maintain. So for me, a 10 pound gain would mean about 100 cals. I have about 160 pounds of LBM, and I use 1600 as my BMR. :)

Through trial and error

I was going to say the same thing. Our bodies are all so much different, it would be very difficult to pick a number for someone other than myself. I'm still trying to find my own balance with calorie intake and expenditure.

I will be getting an RMR (resting metabolic rate) done at the phys lab where I get my hydro done. They are going to do a RMR and Wingate week after next. I'm looking forward to seeing if the RMR is close to the number I've been using...see if instinct and science come together. :)
