i don't use that masheen and my legs are the shit but I do have horrible groin pain if I squat wide stance

overall structural stability. Like powerlifters doing reverse hypers.
 
They're the abductor and adductor machines. (Ad-ductor for "add", like adding or moving towards; opposite for ab-ductor.) I used one of them for about two weeks a number of years ago when my squat form was getting real stiff and I was having trouble hitting parallel. I use an extremely wide stance, so the muslces I bring into play and emphasize with this movement are undoubtedly different than those doing a more typical quad squat with a sholder-width or closer stance.

I see no reason for the general lifter to use these machines unless they need to bring up, emphasize, or rehab some lagging muslce or connective tissues in the hip area.
