**Hell...there is hope for me yet!! First off, ME bench day went ok
made sure I stayed with reps until my shoulder gets better. I did 6-boards
because of me "discontinuing" pin presses for a while. Everything felt
easy on 6-boards which I liked. I'm going to slowly work up to those for
sets of 6 for a while since it felt good. I need to do the same with
reverse band floor presses and may stay away from heavy triples for now.
Gotta take care of myself. Fridays workout was awesome it was inspired by
a buddy of mine over on the fortifiediron board who does nothin but squats
and does a lot of them. I decided to give his workout a go today to see what
I could do. In the past I've done 600 on bench squats and 550 with no bands.
To really challenge myself I did today squats with 4 minis per side and
choked which adds up to 200+ at lockout(I did these last friday with the
same tension). Well..how did it go....it went fuckin well!! All of my
attempts were easy...even 605 w/805 at lockout!! All though I started
to look like a powerlifter when my face went red(and with my new look..
i was kinda likin that!!). I'm extremely happy with todays workout. I
dropped down for some reps and it was almost as the fuckin world wasn't on
my shoulders!! 225 and 315 were light but called it day. "WalkingBeast" if
your reading this...speed squats pay the fuck off, brotha!! well, gotta
call karin about my shirt and see if its on the way of not...got shirt
work comin up next thursday and would like to get it before then. Well,
catcha on Tuesday!! tb

Awesome Brute!!!!! I think Im gonna hit the speed squats tommorow! Today got messed up for a few reasons. But Ill get in tommorow. Your getting strong as fuck!!! Keep it up bro!

Will do bro...Will do!!!!

Floor press look good, but I don't think you should have went for so many reps cause you go right intoa six board press which hits the tris hard, maybe 2x6 with 255 working on bottom explosive power.Same with the six board, maybe 365x6 and 315x8 then 285x12. I like the JM presses, good volume. Gotta love face pulls, also try kelso shrug and get some trap work in.

Nice tension on the squat, I prefer chain but with the weight you use bands are a neccicity. I would have worn the full suit the whole time to get use to it and reall get into a nice groove. A few doubles might have helped but man those are some nice numbers.

Any accessory work for the legs??? Maybe some GHR or light Gm without the suit. looks good though

well..my tris are stubborn..they can handle that type of work and not effect the following exercise. they can get fatigued but not sore!! LOL. so doing what i did floor presses and six-boards don't matter with my tris even if i did 6-boards first or not...just from what i've learned about my body. i usually do trap and other assistance work for squats on fridays but i wanted to experiment with my bud's workout and see what happens...believe me i do it all!!

i'm not a "newbie" by any means and from your post its sounds like it you think I am..or that your underestimating me in some way..not to insult your post because you made some points that i should address.

First off, in powerlifting, you learn how to "conserve" energy for those next attempts and by doing singles, helps you to get used to it...doubles IMO would be working against me. Second, it would be pointless to have my straps up the whole time as well as energy consuming!! i can nail anything up to 495 raw on squats so it would be a waste of time to keep the straps up on anything under 500. I try anything that I see works(this includes GMs too) and I've been training up to 10 yrs now, in powerlifting for 5yrs of the 10, so I know what i'm doing.....not to make it sound like i know it all but i'm always a student myself and willing to learn and hear other views... you can view my "past" progresses here:
http://www.trainordie.com/progress.html

I used the bands because that's all i have currently and plannin on gettin some chains later on. i'm used to my suit so no issues about the groove and i believe doing singles is helpful more than doubles.

I would have to disagree about the band usage though because the bands help with that resistance factor which makes your explosive strength go up..the more tension you have the more you can "trick" your muscles into believing that more weight is on the bar which is why i did those sets of ten with 225 and 315...testing my explosive strength, which "was" a issue on my squats and they help "make" you hit the lockout with the bands working against ya which improves your explosive strength.

But everything else you've said i've added or currently implemented in my training(like traps and other accessory work including speed work, plyos, etc.). i'm doing reps(high ones) on ME Bench is because of my shoulder and i was advised to back off the heavy shit for a while especially on board presses until my shoulder get back to 100% and work on reps. i agree with the 2-3x6 on floor presses and this is what i've should of done as well as the reps on the 6-board so i'll take those into consideration. other than that..thanks for the comments/advice about my training. tb

your progress speak for itself, I am by far not an expert. Just thinking of shoulder problems you were having and thinking less reps might help the shoulder. I also thought you just got your suit for some reason, guess it is bad memory. The suggestion on accessory work is how I do my own lift, I examine my main lift and then critique what went wrong and then I usually do the next excericse to bring up that weakness. I like chains better than bands, for some reason (i have use them only a handful of time) I felt a lot of joint discomfort and pain with bancd yet none with chains. All of the suggestion I add are for you to critique and evaluate, they are just ideas you might want to implement or not, depending on style

hey..i'm not an expert myself:) ...i'm always the student. and i see your point about my shoulder but before september, i was doing reps and my shoulder pains were going away as well as it was responding better too. i also took scott cartwright's advice about the reps(he does a shitload of reps in training!!)and decided to give it a go...i mean what else did i have to go on..:D. any hoot, thats' why the high reps and also need to work on explosion work. the bands i believe caused the pain in first place which is why i only use them doing "reverse" movements..nothing adding resistance and this was my own fault..using the bands too much and i found this out before it was too late..oh well!! the only time i use band tension is with squats and deadlifts. the suit was something i always had and taking the opportunity to use it and learn it was something i was tryin and was quite successful.

the point about the weaknesses is what i agree with...which is why i've doing speed work as well as plyos to help on my weakness..which is explosion. my form is fine...just need more explosion out of the bottom of those squats. i always enjoy hearin what you have to say and i enjoyed this debate with ya. thanks again. wish i could give ya karma...but i think i'm all out..;) tb
