matttheskywalker, the ranger, and any other Rangers

yeah, i heard ranger batts totally suck, because everyone there is all trying to be the alpha male and shit. we had 3 rangers in the prior service platoon at AIT, and 2 of the three were total fuckheads and the other one was really cool.

what's the atmosphere like at a ranger bat?

Everyone there is pretty tough; the young guys act like they have something to prove, which is kinda silly...easy for me to say at 28, when I was the PL I loved those guys.

The NCOs are extremely squared away; easy place to be a PL.

If you want a hardcore experience, do it. If you want the Army life where you have time to do stuff and chill out, it's not the place to be..

Lot of assholes, lot of very cool guys. I can tell you that you will make lifelong friends in the Regiment.

what's your thoughts on ranger versus sf? both were there taking volunteers when i was at AIT, but I didnt volunteer for either because i was supposed to have an ASI follwing graduation and I couldnt go RIP without being active army (some states do have SF units in the national guard).

i know the SF people are hardcore...our 1SG is 42 and was in SF for close to 19 years before he was hurt on a jump and quit, because he didnt want to be part of a unit if he couldnt jump. anyways, this man a 10:05 on his 2 mile for his pt test, and that's at 42. supposedly, many of the guys who go to SFAS are in the same type of endurance shape....i know i am not in that type of shape endurance wise, but i do have the drive.

wow, i totally digressed on that one.

This should clear up the difference:

Ranger: I don't care how big, high or thick the wall is, I am going right through that motherfu**er

SF: This is a big wall. Maybe there is a way around or over it. If we have to, we'll go through, but if we don't have to, let's not.

yeah, i think the sf people are more of the 'gentlemen' when it comes to the elite groups. i would prefer to actually use my brain as to the whole 'grunt mentality' way of doing things.

what do you think is the good range physically to be at before applying? give me some time and numbers.

what are you getting ready for?

RIP?

Run a lot, then run some more, then some more. Plus do PT; RIP instructors will grade PT tests super strict if they are trying to cut people.

As Matt said...run, run, run...situps and pushups my man...If you can run and do those exercises and have a *No Quit * attitude...you'll get through with ease...and a bit less sleep, food, and weight...heh heh heh

As for the differences between Ranger's and Sf...quite simple my man....they teach, we kill...pretty much it in a nutshell...<wink>

i heard RI's will peer people out like nobody's business if you arent a combat MOS. they will make sure a person quits...is that true?

if i already max'ed my PT test in all events, do you think i am set?
