High reps hit slow twitch fibers which have the greatest potential for growth.

Ye Im gonna have to say its the opposite of that. Look at short distance runners, they utilize fast twitch fibers and they look like beasts, i remember ben johnson used to shoulder press 3 45lb plates on each side. thats fast twitch. On the other hand look at long distance runners, they;re all pretty skiny, and they all utilize slow twitch fibers.

i have learnt to marry both rep ranges for the best results ive ever had.started off with 220 for several reps now bench a very reasonable 360 and rep 320. i start with singles and doubles up to max weight then drop weight for higher reps for approx 3 sets and its working well.utilise both for best results.

i do 1 core lift with heavy weight 5x5, 1x5 alternate each week, and sometimes max. i follow it up with some other exercises of higher rep range. 8-12.

The best range is what gives YOU the best results. Everybody responds differently. I can't grow as fast using the 10-12 range comapred to the 5-8 range. Anybody remember Vince Taylor. The guy used to grow like a weed doing high rep workouts. According to the BB mags anyway. Oh, and it's the fast twitch fibers that have the greatest potential for growth.
