Longevity in Bodybuilding

I monitor my weight, bf%, blood pressure almost daily. 3-5X per week. i look at myself in the mirror several times a day and flex.. seeing what muscles look good and what dont

i monitor my testosterone levels 3-5 times a year

and I monitor my blood panel 1-2X per year.

i strive to be healthy all around. you can still bodybuild and be healthy. if i start noticing my bf% creeping up or bp up 10 points I try to figure out what is causing it.

i run conservative cycles with conservative compounds. you wont see me run tren or anadrol EVER. 10 week cycles are my max, i might go 12 weeks but that is pushing it. i allow my HPTA to recover before jumping on another cycle.

i'm not a competitive bodybuilder at all, it doesn't really interest me to go on stage in front of others and compete. but i do enjoy bodybuilding as a hobby

that is awesome. what are your testosterone levels at ?

100........the damn doc gave me a shot and said if that didn't work he would double the dosage, fast forward a month later, i told him i felt better for about 2 days ,and that was it , then he started ratteling that alot of things could be causing my problem beside low test levels, needless to say i didn't get no more shots, so i do my own (again)

What a wasted trip

Thanks Nelson & RADAR.

RADAR: I had no idea you are that age! That's great, exactly the kind of info I wanted to get.
I see lots of older guys in the gym just making their way through workouts. It's good to hear that at almost 60 you are still training seriously.

I also see alot of guys who have been in there for yrs and they still look the same, 2 weeks ago i was wrapping my knees up to do squats, the weight was already loaded on the rack (475) this guy came by (around 30 yrs old)looked at the rack and then looked at me and said "are You fixing to do that?" my reply was "i sure am", He said "mannnn! that makes me hurt all over just looking at it" that was the octane that i needed,i went over there and murdered that rack,(it's fun lookng at other people looking at you while you make the bar bend :) )

You make a good point; the body monitoring associated with the lifestyle should prove beneficial for long-term health. You are much more likely than the average person to catch health issues early and hopefully prevent them growing into bigger problems.

also if i eat or drink something and i feel like crap after or have a stomach ache i eliminate it. for example i was taking whey protein and when i did i felt like crap after.. like my stomach couldn't digest it (even when taking a lactose enzyme).. so i cut it out and switched to creatine instead. problem solved.

when training if a certain exercise causes me pain (not like pump or a good pain) like a tendonitis type pain or popping etc. i avoid that exercise.

people need to learn to listen and trust their bodies.

i believe in moderation when it comes to cycles, especially if your not going to compete and just do it for asthetic/fitness goals. Doesn't it all come down to genetics anyway??? Also, doesn't the movie Bigger, Faster, Stronger touch on this...?

of course. no different then any other sport. no matter how hard you try, and what you do.. none of us on here will ever take Peyton Manning job. just as 99.9999% of us will never be Mr. Olympia.

Me and dairy have never gotten along. I've found that the "Carnivore" protein/creatine supplement works well for me without causing gastro issues.

Egg white, soy, and hemp are all viable protein sources as well.
