lifting heavy weights into old age

well i like to drink........... but only about once ever 6 months.

but dbcooper's right.......... top bodybuilder's and powerlifters are at their best when they are 33years old to about 41.

atheletes are getting better the older they are as the years go by.

50 years agao......... pro athletes were age 20-30. now they have them in baseball and football in their 30's-45's.

take joint fuel and rest rehab, see a chriopracter(sp?) and train smart.

and Pray, you should be fine.

LOL, I never said drinking is good it just doesn't affect me it seems.

IMHO, it's all how you train & take care of yourself. I'm 41, & my knees, elbows & shoulders are in better shape than ever.
I've had both knees scoped for meniscus tears (Plyos, & weighted lunges after 400lb smith machine squats). I've had issues with my elbows due to overuse, & rotator hurts to both shoulders. All while in my 20's & 30's.
I'm stronger than ever, but not even close to being topped out. Still making weekly gains, after finally getting busy with it.
Basically, I warmup thoroughly, emphasize form, & take time off when my body says I need it. It's amazing what 2 or 3 extra days rest can do for you sometimes. I do specific rotator work every week, & it's really paying off.

It's taken me 25 years of training to start to get it right, but it's working. Props to all the great contributers on the boards who help us all out, & make us feel young!

Besides maybe a little extra soreness what would stop u from lifting into old age? Are you very prone to injury?
