about 13 years ago (or so) we started trying to get pregnant. . .all of our friends were having kids at will, but not us. . .it was very difficult. . .neither of us were real big on adopting. . .the doctors were unable to determine the exact nature of our problem, so we went through everything you can imagine (medically speaking). . .our out-of-pocket expenses were around $50,000 (a lot of fertility stuff isn't covered by insurance). . .the experience made both of us question a lot things that we held near-and-dear to our hearts. . .in the end, we wound up having twin girls (they turned 8 on 04/11), and our relationship definitely ended up being stronger than it was before that experience. . .oh. . .and 3 days before my 41st birthday, my wife had our son. . .au natural. . .congratulations! you're 40 (plus) and fertile!! life is full of all sorts of funny twists and turns.
