who hear has ever been trained to use a knife?

Does it intrest anyone out there?

Does anyone have links, vids or anything they could share?

here is a page that goes over some basics that the marines teach:

i saw a couple good movies with knife fighting as the basis. that one with Tommy Lee Jones and Benicio del Toro and one with Peter Coyote, kind of old.

yeah they had some cool stuff in that movie.

my friend who is a marine corp martial arts instructor showed me some simple things and we were talking about it and it blew my mind away just thinking about knife fighitng. realizing that im not really prepared for that at all. i like the marine approach because it is very simple and straight forward and will be quick to learn because i know i wont be spending much of my overal time training w/ a knife

some of the cops i talk to have told me they are at a disadvantage if someone has a knife and are within something like 20 ft. of that person. thats with a holstered firearm.

i did some training a while back with this old fillipino guy.. shit was very precise, almost like boxing but with a knife. very tight movements.. and very brutal, almost every move was taught to finish your opponent. even with my limited training.. about 2-3 months, i'd estimate that i'd have at least 3 to 1 odds of beating someone in a knife fight who isn't trained. however, i don't carry a knife (or any weapon) but if somehow i get put in a situation involving one i'd be fairly confident that i'd make it out alive and in tact. i believe the style he was teaching me was kali and offshoots of kali.

ive taken a course on edged weapon awareness and defence,I typed up my notes on here a while back from it,but im not plat so I cant bump it,and I believe I lost that notebook.

I have seen a videao clip of some real knife fights. The dumbass bikers were doing it like a sport. The rules were no stabbing lol. Like what happens for a penalty if you stab the guy "oops my bad, deduct a point from me" while the guy bleeds to death lol.

I have known a couple friends that got in knife fights, in my opinion run if you can.

I thought The Hunted sucked really bad
I'm intersted in knife fighting and have a friend that will teach me
but I'm focusing on hand to hand stuff

im actually not to worried about fighting a guy with a knife 1 on 1 .. i mean i do want practice in that but im also worried about me w/ a knife against multiple people, fighting and having someone pull a knife, etc

and i hope i never see a knife again in a street fight.. i think its for nancies and wish more people just duked it out but you cant think like that and expect to be as prepared as the guy who knows there are screwballs out there and prepares for everything.

oak im gonna search for that post..might pm you w/ a question or two
