First of all what a shameful way to display MMA the general public. It will be a fuckin circus.

Secondly the fights that i want to see are on the undercard and only available online. WTF?

Someone post up the non televised results please when they come up.




They should have got some real veterans of the sport to kick off the debeaut on national tv. Not some street fighter, who's 15 seconds of fame are almost over.

Thoughts?

Not really it gives a bad impression of mma! Thats the only big seller they have so they match him up with somebody he can beat and if her hurts him bad then people will look down on the sport!

It's what the promoters want. They know he has a fan base. They are running with it unitl they can't. When he's no longer good anymore they will feed his ass to the sharks. Thats how it works. Like it or not.

No first they wanted the UFC but Dana White wouldn't set up fights like they wanted so they went to this other sorry league. I want people to respect the way mma fighters fight and not thing it's a bunch of street brawlers trying to kill each other! the UFC has worked hard to change the image!
 
I know what you mean but MMA is much bigger now then late 90's. With more exposer the chance of it being corrupt is great now. You think everyone that's a promoter actually cares about the sport and image? HELL NO! Half are gonna see money signs. $$$$$$$$$$$

I know I boxed for 6 years before I started really lifting and gaining so much weight and i have many friends that are pros. I hate boxing now and I don't want to see mma turn into that bullshit!
 
so who is Kimbo fighting? is his opponent anything worthy?

Anyone think they stopped that fight a bit early? i suppose for reg TV gotta tame it down a notch.

I also heard that Elite XC was on the verge on Bankruptcy and was willing to put it all on the line tonight to save their organization.

They are that is true! I like Phil Baroni that is coming up but he's past his prime!

Remind me of the Hatton fight last week. He was almost KOed in the 10th and the reff gave him almost a minute to tie his boot! And it wasn't even untied.

Corruption ruins the sport.
 
Why would a 'brutal" "raw" sport allow stopping of fights? For fucking caulliflower ear none the less!? I was glad to see Kimbo win,but he was in trouble if that dude took him to the floor again.

and it's true, Kimbo is 35 can punch the living bricks out of things and he can train and train for the next two or three years on his groundwork but he will stand no chance against the top tier opponents in the UFC or Pride that have decades jiu-jitsu. If that was Shamrock that had Kimbo on the ground, Ken would of had him submitted within 30 seconds, Kimbo had no ground defense and looked real sluggish and vunerable when he was on the ground, thank god Thomson doesn't have much ground offense and was just using his body weight instead of technicality

the hype will die down soon because now it's clear he is no phenom like alot of people think he is

Tiger Woods = Phenom
Lebron James = Phenom
A-Rod = Phenom
Mike Tyson = Phenom
Kimbo Slice =/= Phenom

It all comes down to money. Everyone knows TV doesn't pay much for unproven projects. I can't expect UFC to work for peanuts, and pay their fighters even less.

Plus unlike wrestling, UFC has a tough time making celebs from their roster of short-haired white 30-something fighter dudes. They still haven't taken marketing cues from McMahon who's created Cenas, Rocks, Hogans, Chynas, Austins and Undertakers, and makes mega millions from the secondary markets.

McMahon shoudl make his own fighting league, and blow all these other guys out of the water (as long as he doesn't run it like the xfl!)

Everyone will say that Thompson was out on his feet..........but he just looks like that NORMALLY. Seriously, the guy has that half dazed loopy look all the time.

He may have gone down in another shot or two anyway.........but Kimbo was punched out himself. Both had NOTHING in the tank at that point........so it would have been one of those exhaustion knockouts. Actually, Thompson looked better at the end of the fight than kimbo did.........save the blown out cauliflower ear. Kimbo looked like he was going into cardiac arrest........seriously

He fought bumbs, drunk and wanna be porn stars...for all we know, those youtube vids could be staged

TUF, The Ultimate Fighter. The UFC tries to build and promote camera friendly fighters through that program. The UFC uses the WEC as their minor league to build true athletic talents. They took their cue from both the WWE and professional baseball in an attempt to create fighters marketable to both mainstream viewers via The Ultimate Fighter and hardcore fans via the WEC and Cage Rage in England.

I think the UFC is probably trying to promote the sport first and avoid superstars as superstars cost money and can jump ship and take the fan base to the competitor.

The UFC must generate a lot of gambling revenue also. I'm not sure how much money is to be made betting on WWE matches.

That's what I told you before. Kimbo is one of the first "youtube phenomena". They're going to push him for another few months maybe a year until they run out of low quality fighters or people start asking for a real opponent.
 
can somebody here PLEASE post freeze framed pics of Thompsons face right after he ate that uppercut/hook combo at the end of the fight? I promise all of you will shit yourself in hysterics. The faces he made after each hit are abjectly hysterical and will have you crying.

nah man, should have put him in the ring with brock lesnar, why not? brock is a rookie too, he'd absolutly destroy kimbo though, plus i wouldnt want to see that scum on UFC anyways
