Kawasaki Ninja

drum n bass

New member
Bros, a buddy of mine is thinking of getting an Kawasaki EX 500 Ninja as a starter bike, plus because insurance wants $4000 for a cbr600. He is trying to get as much info/experiences about this bike before buying it so, i'm trying to help him out... he is buying used of course

has anyone of you guys that ride bikes, had or have ridden a EX 500 ninja??? If so, how are they? fast? handling? etc...

thanx dawgz

IMO 500 is to little, go for a 600. They look better and you won't feel like a lil girl on one. I have a 2000 zx-6r ninja, it's my first bike and it's definatly not too big at all. insurance for $4000? what is that all about? i pay 1300 for a full year, but that only because it's full coverage and i'm still gettin ripped. Tell your friend to go for a 600, either the r6,zx-6r or f4.

you will......I mean he will outgrow it pretty quick.

Plus, what are you talking about $4000 for insurance? Is that for a whole year?

Thanx for the reply

First, the bike is not for me... i started with a cbr600rr and i now have a honda 929!

Second, he is only 20 and he was thinking of buying an F3 and the insurance company wanted 4G's becuz of his age and inexperience... so he got a quote for the ex500 and it only came out to $700 for the year! And i hear its a great starter bike... insurance wise and experience wise.

Anyone ride this bike before?

you guys got to remember that we are in canada, the insurance policies are different over here. specially with motorcycles.

I've been riding for many years and i pay just under 1000 for the year for my 929.

the 500 will be fine, IMO its just ugly though, can he get any cheaper insurance? i'm 19 and i pay only 1300 for full coverage for the zx-6r

No he told me he shopped around and that was the best he could get. I just told him to get it for a year so that he can get 1 year of insurance under his belt. It is kinda ugly but, oh well, you have to start off somewhere. I mean, i wouldn't pay 4000 + 6000 for the bike which would = 10g's to look cool on a bike.. fuk that noize!

Anyhow, hardtime, thanx for your replies bro.

That bike is old, old, old, old, old school technology. I wouldn't own one even if it was free.

IMO, that bike is only good for something like pizza-delivery in an urban enviroment.

I'd look into a Honda CBR600F2/3 or older style Yamaha YZF600. Those are good neutral sportbikes.

ditto w/ hardtime

tell him not to waste his money on the 500 and to look into a different insurance compnay

A friend of mine has a ZX-6R and he loves it. I don't know if the UK and US versions are the same though (probably not).
