Karma inflation... How to fix it???

How about we go to a system of 1 point per hit? There is no K-Power, as such. You can buy extra hits using Karma in the store and any hits you receive go into your hit-bank and be converted into Karma at some moderate rate. They would cost a lot more to buy extra than the conversion rate into Karma.

Karma would be the currency of EF for the store, Bookie events, Poker etc and could be given away as now but would be disassociated from your hitting.

1) Hitting would be a simple one-point per hit.
2) Received hits could be traded in for Karma for making purchases and betting.
3) Extra Hits could be purchased but would be quite expensive on Karma.
4) Everyone gets a standard number of hits per day, as now, which could, as now, vary by membership type.

This separates Karma from hits without any messy formula nonsense. The conversion rate from Hits to Karma could even vary according to the needs of the system, akin to a bank trading rate. People could hoard their Hits for a rainy day or a good conversion deal.

1 pt hits sounds ok....or how does this sound?
put k power into categories......ok i have a little over 600 k hits...put me in the group that hits say 100 k hits....hammy having all his k should maybe people able to hit like 1000 k power or some thing...does any one understand what i am trying to say?
instead of individual k hit power make areas that we all fall into.....i.e people who have 1-50 k power hit for like 2 karmas..people will 50-100 k power hit for 20 and so on

That does nothing to solve the underlying inflation, it merely slows us down or moves us back. We want a long-term solution else we'll be reincarnating this thread next year.

Do like they do in the real world taxes the millionaires to the hill and give to the poor. I bet Hammy has a cow over this :lmao:

so far i think blut wump has a good idea...making hits worth only 1 hit...it is like proboards.....although maybe the hits should be worth 5 though.

1, 5 or a 100 wouldn't matter. It's the conversion to currency (Karma) that determines what you can do with your hits. If the hits are worth more per Hit then they'd adjust the conversion into Karma downwards. If you want to hit people for more then you could purchase more Hits with your own Karma.

The idea is to keep Karma as your spending power but to remove it a step from hitting to give the system a little more control over it.

If you allow 'big-hitters' to exist then you have to compensate for them in the conversion to Karma to keep the inflation in check. Then again, given that it would be simple to do that, maybe 'big-hitters' could be worked comfortably into the system.

A variable rate on conversion of Hits to Karma would be the real tool in inflation control but, to avoid people falling further behind as groups form, the 'big-hitters' concept would probably have to go.

I also think that ideas of further restricting the frequency of re-hitting someone is a bad idea. Back when I was almost solely in the training forum, the most common interaction with the karma button was a message telling me that I needed to spread it more. That was what brought me and probably others to C&C and our current situation.

We need to reevaluate the exchange rate of the currency. Remember when the Italian Lira was 1350 to the dollar? Just adjust everyone's karma and karmic power by a factor of 1000. Anyone reduced to a value of either factor less than 1 remains at 1. Adjust your other formulations ala MightyMouse from there.

That way the same people who have a large karmic power and value will still be larger than everyone else but to a lesser degree. You could actually keep the current formula with this solution and it would take a year or so to require an adjustment again.

It would take about a year and we'd be back to where we were, maybe around Christmas time. It's not a long-term solution.
