I have always done deads with touch and go, coming down, touching the floor and going right back up. Not necessarily bouncing it, though. Well I read the dl sticky and decided to try it without doing that, off the floor cold every time... WOW. My back was crying :D Not gonna ever go back to the other way now.

Haha...I don't think I've used the touch and go method for some time now (and thankfully so!) Mostly in PL we just do some speed pulls or variation of deadlift where we do pause the weight at the floor before picking it back up again. Definately more difficult - but more beneficial IMO.

I can definantly see where it is more beneficial. The hardest lift is the first one, because it requires more force than the touch and go... never really realized that before. I think this will probably help me NOT hurt my back as well, because I can do more wieght with touch and go, but not with the pause.

If that makes any sense.... ;)

i just started doing it non-touchandgo since i read madcows 5x5, and it said each one done with a pause from the floor.

but i have a question, how long should u wait, i usually wait about 1-3 seconds between each rep is that too much?

if you pull from the floor absolutely. I know lots of people who strap in and take 2 steps back and go from there. doesn't serve much of a purpose for people who want to work on singles though.

You don't need to wait for any specified period unless you have some other purpose. Just allow the weight to transfer to the floor and let the bar settle. It will probably help to adjust slightly back into your starting position as I don't know anyone who lowers it perfectly every rep and arrives at the same position they pull their first rep or singles in.

No, you could stand up and get back down regrip and yank after each rep and that would not be too long.

you sadistic bastards. yeah, i read this and of course since it's DL day, i had to try it. loved it. made me physically ill. but no one DL's there. and if they do, it's SLDL's with 95lbs. anyway, i look at DL'ing as work. there's nothing recreational about it. went thru about a half gallon of water during my sets, fuck, i need a nap.

i don't see many guys outwork me. they might do more sets or more weight, on the pulldown machine, but i've never had one of them ask to work in with me when i'm DL'ing.

yeah i can count the people who deadlift at my gym on one hand
they fuckin' hate me. i'm the noisiest, sweatiest guy there. they can't hear the tv over my grunting and crashing weights.

no one deadlifts at my gym. though i did see a guy doing no handed squats with 225. pretty tough, but all his other lifts are ghey. so he loses out on cool points.

But you win cool points for that thing (lei)? around your head...A new restaurant opened up near me called Cheeseburger In Paradise and I think you are driving in your car to eat there...No???

i just got my statement for cool points and i definitely was credited a sizeable amount. i can't disclose said amount due to a confidentiality agreement to avoid ugly lawsuits for preferential treatment for being so stylish and classy. not everyone has such gifts.
