If you have a muslim background, but you don't class YOURSELF as a Muslim... Nor does your parents though you're from a Muslim country....

Do you feel bad when someone ask's....

"Oh so you have a Turkish background, So you're Muslim?"

I'm like, No.... I wouldn't say I am, I have beliefs etc, But I'm a strict religious person... My mum does pray.... and she used to fast before she became unwell....

But the reaction I got was... "Oh, Ok"

Is there anything wrong with that?

People like to assume a lot of things when they are clueless!

I'm with you, who says your country of origin has to determine ANYTHING about you!

i have a question also
i work with a girl who moved from another country, bosnia perhaps?
and i believe she is muslim, im not sure but she is another religion
shes lived in the US most of her life, and her parents dont wnat her dating non muslim men and they are mad at her right now because she is dating outside her religion
but imo, if they moved to the US, and work and live among other religion backgrounds, wouldnt you think they should sort of expect her to date outside her religion?
I told her im a southerner, and (no offense to any other race) my parents dont wnat me dating outside my race, but its like telling me that and then moving in the middle of an asian community. You cant help who you love

i have a turkishj background (well partially at least).

anyway, everyones ignorant, i just either let it go if its not a big dela comment, but if it bothers me or pisses me off in anyway i call them out, usually calling them a jew, or piece of shit, or tell them virgin marry wasnt a virgin cause i found her gravesite and banged her, etc.

especially now that im realizing people go out of their way to offend others and drive their confidence down just to be dicks, i have alot less of a problem doing it right back

Totally disagree with the parents.... if they live in the US and expect her to date a muslim guy... Well, thats just telling her what to do...

Totally wrong.... She should explain to them that may not happen due to where they live.... If they expect her to marry someone muslim then move back to the background they're from....

thats so wrong... She should date who she wants....

Typical of narrow minded people, or people who are NOT world traveled.

It's kinda tough to see past other notions when all you know is the little bubble you never leave. Right?
