Your anti-bacterial soap sterilizes your cups? If you've made that much Fina and haven't gotten an infection your one lucky man. I'm not calling you or anyone else an idiot, just use common sense. Why do you use sterile pins? Why not just wash them with your special soap?

Listen, I don't use the coffee filter method because I just think it is an inconvenience but.....there is no reason to worry about sterility until the end. After you filter the fina through the coffee filter you then run the fina through the sterile filter provided and now it will be sterile. Just to be sure one can bake the fina.

The fina in never sterile until it is run through the sterile fiter. Therefore you do not have to worry about the sterility of the coffee filter because the fina is already unsterile.

I hope this clears up this debate.

Umm if handled properly the fina is sterile, until you put it in the coffee filter. The pellets are sterile or the cows would be getting abcesses when they were implanted. I keep seeing people say that running the fina through the sterile filter will make it sterile. That is nuts.. running an unsterile substance across a sterile object will only make the sterile object contaminated. Ipson and I have had this discussion before. I would never use a coffee filter but I know most do. Maybe someone should do a poll. The BA kills bacteria and I think that takes care of 90% of your risk. I think that useing a .2 syringe filter to remove spores covers all bases.

You were correct until you said to bake the fina...alcohol easily evaporates...takes some rubbing alcohol and pour it on your counter then take some water and pour it on your counter. The alcohol will be gone very quickly and even quicker if heated.

This is not fucking rocket science guys...BA holds the steroid in the oil; also it keeps it sterile. If you boil out the BA then your fina is shit. No its not ruined but yes its less affective and the steroid isn't going to stay preserved in the oil half as long.

What the hell are you guys talking about!!!???????

1. Don't use coffee filters. They work like shit. they're messy, dirty, and you lose yield. Use multiple syringe filters (0.45 and .25 micron) instead.
2. Since when do sterile filters sterilize your solution? That's ridiculous. If I piss through it will I have sterile piss?
3. Yield is not 100% (4000mg/90mL does NOT give 44mg/mL)
I'd say an estimate of 90% may be more accurate depending on your technique and kit.

i have never used a coffee filter and i never felt like i have had to... sterility, of course, is an issue. also, i never had to pre-flter with it before. if you really wanna pre-filter, i wouldnt recommend using a coffee filter, however, i would recommend using a .8micrometer filter, then using a .45micrometer.... actually a .2micrometer would be best
