It's been awhile since I last posted...but....

So anyhow, last week, after having pnumonia for a week, I decided to stay home and put some outdoor stuff away before it snowed. I threw some Steamfresh vegetables in the microwave, started eating lunch, and began to choke on my food.

I choked so badly that I began to vomit in my windpipe, which caused me to start passing out. I tried to dial 911 but dropped the phone. As I began to black out, I tried one last time to clear my trachea by throwing myself into the kitchen table.

My Dad, who is very sick, was at my house that day. He heard me take out the kitchen table, came downstairs to find me on the floor, but could not find my phone, which I had knocked under the table.

My dad ran to my neighbors, grabbed their phone, while the neighbor's kid ran over to perform CPR on me.

The EMT's came in 4 more minutes and began everything else they could do. Epi/Shock/more CPR. This went on for nearly 20 minutes only thankfully because the doctor on call handling the Emergency room that afternoon refused to let the EMT's stop.

I'm posting this because it's crazy how a simple sickness can pretty much cause someone to become clinically dead. With all the stuff people take, people sometimes take for granted their health. Yet, in a crazy way, years of var, anadrol, enanthate and working out is what helped me fight thru this event.

EF's lost some good people over the years. I hope to not see more in the future because of someone failing to recognize a simple symptom.

I was pumped full of freezing fluid which brought my body temp to 32 degrees. Then, over the course of days, I was thawed out. I fought for the last 7 days in ICU failing in and out of an induced coma.

I just wanted to wish some of the old school EF'ers a Merry Christmas.

damn bro severe story...would the hemlich mauever have worked?
i was taught to use the back of a chair

Good bro here

Jesus dude. I died earlier this year too, but it was pretty brief from what I understand. Waking up with a tube down my throat and strapped down was a bit unsettling, but I guess it kept me alive.

I'm glad you're ok.

Merry Christmas, bro.

oh my god. I've imagined that scenario myself a million times when I'm eating steamfresh veggies alone. I'm not joking, I have anxiety and when I eat them for whatever reason I always imagine a scenario where I'm choking on them alone. What a nightmare. I might stop eating steamfresh veggies after reading this.

I'm glad you're okay. That was a scary story.

Merry Christmas to you too

maybe for a brief minute. I tried but I also needed to make some noise so that someone could hear me....My dad just happened to be around but sleeps most days as his dementia gets worse.

Yeah, I was tied down because I was trying to pull my tube out. Bastards froze me to 32 degrees and thawed me at 1/3 a degree per hour. Thank god I had no fat-butt nurses because I would have been bored out of my mind.

Glad to see you came back. I thought you were leaving for awhile...

Wait, so, like, what was the root cause here? Did you choke because of the pnumonia, or a pre-existing condition? How did food not travel down your trachea (or whatever that tube's called) like normal?

Serious?

What is it about steam fresh veggies that would make one think of choking? I eat them all the time and it has never occurred to me that I might kick the bucket eating them.

gotmilk, glad you are ok bud. That sounds really scary.

They have a consistency where if I eat them too quickly I have trouble. I've never choked on them, but I've had to make a conscious effort to slow down with them, for whatever reason. I haven't eaten any since I read this :/

I buy broccoli crowns for 88 cents a pound, cut them up and steam them fresh in a pan on the stove. 5 minutes and they're still crisp. That frozen microwave in a bag shit is awful.

I used to do that w/ broccoli but I like frozen veggies for convenience so I don't have to cut them and go to the grocery store as often. They definitely don't taste as good frozen.

When Abby was 1 I was cutting some sweet potatoes and a piece fell on the floor. She crawled over underneath my feet and picked it up and put it in her mouth, swallowed it and began to choke. I picked her up and did the baby heimlich on her and it wouldn't budge. Her lips began to turn blue so I started to panic, I held her by her feat and began just pounding on her back as I ran to the neighbor's house, screaming. The running followed by pounding on her back got the potato out in the middle of the street where she also threw up. One of the scariest things to happen :/

Alcohol does slow your reaction time.

I guess a really inflammed trachea mixed with a freak thing.

Damn dude, that'd be scary as hell. Glad you're OK!

I have a fear of choking partially due to my anxiety, plus I eat really fast. At least once a week I don't chew enough and almost choke. I basically cough real quick to pop it out. A few more chews and it's good to go. Scares the fuck outta me tho. Think I'd learn.

Holy fucking shit!
I'm glad you pulled through man.

Some hot nurse gave me an extra rub and tug as she pulled my catheter.

Hot!!

It could have only been better if you were getting a prostate exam at the same time.

damn dude, just saw this. Glad ur ok. fuck I would be freaked out. Any near death experience revelation type shit?

No white light but lots of pen lights.

I had no heartbeat but could totally hear what was going on. They put me in a coma and I still tried to pull out my intubation tube. I could totally smell one nurses gum.

I have no idea how I did not blow a giant ball of water out of my ass. IV's + potassium pills=bloated stomach.

I set off the heart rate warning alarm when I was finally able to take a shit.
