okay ...I have read many different versions on how the HIV virus came about. Most of which sound rather rediculous. No one really does know exactly how it began, or how it mutated. The fact is that it is here today.
I guess the reason for it uprise these days is partly because of ignorant thinking. No one wants to get it, but they sure do love to make jokes about it....sad.

surprisingly people are still running around saying AIDS is a punishment from god for deviant behavoir. maybe it makes them feel superior saying that but disease does not come from some sort of higher power or god.

rather it is nature just doing its thing to keep population in check. noone said nature cannot be cruel.

as world population explodes and we explore and inhabit parts of the world we have not lived before we are bound to come across new microorganisms. some we are not immune to or have medications to remedy.

with airplanes disease can easily spread in a matter of hours to another continent and spread. if a cure for AIDS is ever found, there will be another deadly virus or bacteria eventually. may even be a new strain of one that we have found the "cure" for.

a stronger theory is that HIV was introduced to humans in the 50s while scientist were working on a vaccine for polio. monkey blood was ingested by volunteers in the hope of founding a cure for the then incurable polio.

monkeys had successfully adapted to live with HIV. maybe in a few generations humans will also.

60 minutes did a story on this a while back. they showed numerous doctors reports of strange, unexplained deaths in 60s and 70s that now appear to be AIDS. at the time there was no knowledge of HIV. death certificates listed causes of death as pneumonia, or cancer...

Regarding "Patient Zero," while it is true that Gaëtan Dugas had sexual contact with many of the first people diagnosed with AIDS in the U.S., it is unlikely that he infected them, since it usually takes a number of years after infection to show symptoms. The only thing he can claim is that he was linked to many of the first cases - whether he infected them or vice versa is not known.

didn't hear that mark. interesting. makes you wonder how many death certificates were signed by doctors from HIV related deaths listing other, or unknown causes, before the virus was identified.
