Bro, I think you watch too many action movies.
If you are the victim of a Home Invasion it will likely be a surprise and you won't have time to go grab any gun.
Likely the Scenario would be:
You hear someone in your house or breaking glass etc
Get your Shotgun
Walk close enough to determine if someone is indeed in the house without giving up your position.
only then LOAD A ROUND IN THE CHAMBER.. CLACK ![b/]
Any intruder that hears this followed by "I have a weapon and will shoot unless you leave Immediatly" deserves to Die IMO.
This is another hidden benefit to the pump action SG.
Plugs are for Hunting regulations. Remove it unless hunting.
If you need more than 4 , 00 Buck shots to kill or run off an intruder, you had better go buy a Machine gun.
A pistol round will go through walls more easily and often than a 00 buckshot round.. Not good
If all goes really bad, with a SG you also have a 4 foot long steel and wood weapon in your hands vs a handgun..

I keep both my guns loaded and under my bed for fast access.

I've seen enough police videos to know that in the heat of the moment you can miss several times at point blank range even with a shotgun and these are trained cops.

We solved the problem. Oh plus a heartbeat sensor

I do not wish to leave a Gun loaded in the open due to Children being present in the house.
My 10 yr Daughter knows about my guns and also knows not to touch the cabinet.
Getting to the guns is a delay, and a known Risk I take.
Many Children that are trained and aware of firearms still are tempted to touch them at that age.
As far as the pistol vs Shotgun debate goes..
My responding is a personal preference as well as the opinions of home defense experts that the SG is preferable in all but a Miami Vice type shootout.
