Is Mossberg a good brand of shotguns??

"Also, consider the laws in your state. SOme states are not very sympathetic towards killing people even inside your own home. "

No offense or anything but I could care less what the laws say.

If some piece of shit breaks into MY FUCKIN HOUSE and puts MY FUCKIN FAMILY AND FRIENDS in danger. He has signed his own death warrent and I will shoot to kill.

CF has a bit of a point though.
In most states your life has to be in jeapordy or perceived jeapordy.

In several states, the person breaking in has to be in the act of theft.

Both of these can easily be proved.

And there's Canada.... *sigh* :)

Damn dude, fuckin drop it, who gives a shit.

tell AAA to drop it. he is the one wanting to fight me, insulting me, making cute little acrostics with my name. i got on this thread to discuss a topic i like and know a little about, and some jack ass starts insulting me out of no where, i reply to his insults in a half joking manner, and you want me to drop it? notice i didn't start one insult, they are all responses. cool, whatever bro.

Firequest.com has some good ammo for home protection, if over penetration is a big concern, they have hollow point slugs, and if you want less than leathel rounds, they have a nice 115 grain rubber bullet.

I have used some of these rounds before, through my Mossberg 500, and had no problems.

If you are worried about a lawsuit then do not load your own shells, and do not buy these killer rounds, instead buy the less than leathal rounds, and at least it will look like you did not try to kill the bastard.

I know what you guys mean, but good luck proven that I wasn't fearful for mine and my familys life.

"officer it was dark and I thought his crowbar was a weapon"

AAA and F.B.I if you two don't fuckin settle down right now I'll turn this goddamn car around. And you know I'll do it too!!!

I'm not telling you not to kill someone in your house. Go for it, anyone dumb enough to break into a house deserves it.

But just be aware that you *could* be the villain in such a case.

A good book to get, Traveller's Guide the Firearms laws of the 50 States. 12$, well worth it.

9mm is actually good for home protection... it will put someone down for sure, while not running a GREATER risk of possibly hurting someone else in the area. most 9mm rounds will not exit a human body and keep going, which is why alot of law enforcement uses them

Wow, what a plethora of misinformation.
Good post, I couldn't agree more. I do, however, disagree about the necessity, or even value, of a lighting rig. If your properly trained and given the right scenario they CAN be great. However, IMO it's like a bright irresistable target. Mount your gun and that target is right at your face.

Jeeze, reading this thread... Look, some of you guys need to invest some time learning about your interest.

BTW, a crowbar IS a weapon.

I agree. I have trained with and without lighting aparatus's attached to pistols/rifles. The problem with lighting is that it creates a sort of "tunnel vision", meaning that you are only concentrating on the the little brite spot in front of you and not at the peripheral sorroundings. If there are more than one target, it makes things very difficult. Not to mention it will give your positiong away very quickly....think of it as the same reason you aren't supposed to smoke at night while on patrol. The light will give you away.

For home protection, I keep my trusty browning highpower 9mm under my bed, locked cocked and ready to rock.

Those 590A1's are badass. When I have a little cash to throw around, it's the first gun I'm going to buy. Props on your selection.
