Is A Flat Stomach Just Plain Genetics Or Is Is Attainable By All?

I think that it depends both on genetics and on what one eats/drinks. I am pretty flat there but I tend to have colon problems. I had colitis in the past and all the protein shakes I drink certainly don't help the problem. Very often, especially at night I felt bloated and my stomach kind swells up, but then the next morning is flat again. My doctor is against colonics, he says they don't help and on the contrary they can aggravate the problem because they deprive one of the intestinal bacteria etc etc, so he says. I wish I could reduce the number of protein shakes I have every day, but since I am a vegetarian they are the main source of protein for me (together with egg whites).

my stomach is the same way when relaxed but I have a bad curve in my lower back. It sucks because when I am wearing a shirt it looks like I have a huge gut.

same here. and a very large chest pulling the shirt out down there doesn't help either. its just genetics................

I could never get a 6 pack my whole life. Usually only a 4 pack. However last summer I really cut down and watched what I ate all the time and I finally got a 6 pack. This summer I am getting very close to it already and I think it will look better than last summers. It's got a lot to do with hard work for those of us that don't have "genetic" 6 pack.

Frank zane still had a ripped 6 pack, even with a big ribcage. My ribcage is huge compared to the rest of my body and when I relax my abs the corners of the ribcage push out and it looks terrible. I think my abs and obliques are just probably weak and I need to strengthen them for this reason. If i flex my abs they look great, but i don't want to look like an ass going around flexing my abs all the time.

I had a 8 pack up and distinct obliques up til 25 yrs old. I swear, one week after my birthday it disappeared. Ever since then, i only have it when i flex.

Flat Stomach

Let me answer that question. A flat stomach is attainable by almost everyone. It depends on your level of activity and nutrition also. I always had a gut. Once I joined the Army and basically after 13 weeks I had a 6 pack. I still ate all the same foods. The difference is that after every meal I had to jog back to my barracks. When I was in the barracks I laid down for about 15 minutes and then they called formation and I had to run back to formation all day. Then we hiked somewhere. Your activity level determines if you will have a flat stomach. I think during that period I always burned more calories than I ate and we drank a lot of water. And not to mention we had physical training 3 times a week. Pushups, situps and then a nice long early morning jog. Try and get into that frame of mind and see the results. It will be hard in the real world.
