It depends on what you need done. Some things can't be done with Invisaligns and you need traditional braces.

I've had traditional braces for the past 5 months but not to straighten teeth. I just had jaw surgery last Wednesday. I had no choice, but aside from my close group of friends, who I expected to get a lot of shit about them from, nobody seemed to care/notice.

I should be getting the videos back from Invisalign in a week or two which will have digital shots of how the teeth should move and the final result.
I am still undecided and might go for a consult with a cosmetic dentist. The veneer route may be sufficient as it is only one tooth at the side of the front that only slightly is out of place.
