Interesting position on debt ceiling debate

Kucinich tells the press that Barry was grand-standing over the fear of not sending-out SS checks.

Then he says the real threat is that seniors will quit spending due to fear generated by Barry, which will further damage the economy.

Then Kucinich advocates higher taxes.

This is all within a 20-30 second segment.

So let me get this straight. We can't let seniors be afraid they won't have money to spend, but we can take money from another segment of the population so they actually won't have the cash to spend.

Oh, absolutely! And as long as there is no threat to cut education and free medical for illegals, free artificial insemination for women who already have 10 or 15 kids and are on welfare, and free college for people who aren't college material, etc etc.

Russia is looking more & more attractive as a place to go for retirement living....

@Plunkey.

Here's the deal on SS. There has never been a trust fund for Social Security. When they take your money via payroll tax (fica) it goes right into the U.S. Treasury (Helvering v. Davis) a 1937 Supreme Court ruling. Roosevelt insisted to the public it was an insurance plan earned by people via payroll tax but his lawyers were in court argueing it was no such thing---and the Supreme Court played along and betrayed the Constitution. Social Security is unconstitutional, as you know.. its a socialist program masked by a facade (payroll tax). That money withdrawn from your paycheck is directly spent by the goverment on something else. There has never been a funded account for SS, that is one of the most grossly lies in history. So, what has been going on? The Treasury, has given an interest bearing IOU to another branch, the Social Security Administration. Each year after that, the treasury gives Social Security additional IOU's to cover interest due (Friedman). The only way the Treasury redeems its debt to SS is to raise taxes and print more money (inflation).

They're going to raise our taxes no matter what rhetoric they use, how much they waffle, and what schemes and propaganda they use. It's inevitable. 1940, 220,000 people received SS, today it's around 50 million by 2030 estimated 80-85 million will be receiving checks. Raising taxes is impossible to avoid. Thanks to one man's political game he played with people's lives 75 yrs ago.

I like Denis because he's consistent on his positions vs some of the others who will do anything and say anything to get elected.

He is consistent, but his positions are completely nuts. We'd have 50% unemployment with his policies.

The only ones that I've paid attention to were about dropping the bailouts and the wars. Those seem pretty reasonable to me.

nice to see that all this time they've been saying 'ss will run out by 20xx' was total b.s. They've run out of money years ago.

More proof your gubment loves to lie to you. Why people always believe them beats me. Oh look some WMD's! Oh look house prices will always rise!

He also wants to pump up unions, raise taxes, nationalize health care... He's a variety pack of really terrible ideas.

And how is or "Days, not weeks" war coming? I don't see the anti-war guys saying anything about it these days.

I see him still saying that the war was a waste of money and that troops should be removed immediately so I'm not sure what you're looking for there.

I'm just noticing the difference in anti-Iraq war rhetoric versus anti-Libya war rhetoric. I haven't seen a single libtard accuse Barry of being a war criminal. Have you?

Truthfully, I have seen some (none on TV but some radio).

It usually is followed by their complete disappointment with his policies and how he "sold out" to the other interests (see net neutrality, see bank bailouts, see universal healthcare, see NASA funding cuts).

The NASA one bothered me. The decision was to cut NASA, but leave military spending alone and pursue universal healthcare? I'm still bothered.

He didn't cut NASA enough. I'm for all the other cuts as well.

I'm pro-ethanol subsidy cuts too. Even though that's the closest thing to practical alternative energy we have, it needs to go along with welfare for wind farms, solar panels and any other hand-out.
