Infection!

Did a 2 cc glute injection Friday night. No pain nothing. Did it as soon as I got out of the shower...used alcohol swabs...followed usual protocol. Satuday night I noticed it was infected. Red and the red area was about the size of a domino. No pain, but definately inflamed. What do I do about this? And what the hell happened?

Thanks!

First off, swabbing and then putting isopropyl alcohol into your ass didn't help. Swabbing is unecessary, actually causes more problems than cures.

Second, you are injecting a 'foreign' substance into your body, of course there will be an immune response.

If you start to feel cold or flu like symptoms, area gets hot, really red and swollen, you need to get that butt to AE/ER or your doc ASAP

you should b fine abcesses hurt like a mother fucker

also ther are plenty of vet sites to get human grade kflex just in case

what did you inject? sometimes some shots just hurt more than others. i think you would be in a world of hurt if it was infected.

How does swabbing with an alcohol prep not do anything? That is prolly the most retarded thing I have read on here. Not flaming you but you gotta swab to reduce the chence of infection. does it prevent infection? nope but it does help.

it is kinda like in the OR. You can be as sterile as sterile will let you but there is always the risk of infection. With all the chloraprep, betadine and autoclaving all the untesils you can still possible get an infection.

Look take a sharpie and outline the redness. if it gets bigger tomorrow or at all then go to the MD and get an antibiotic.

Dont go to a vet site and get anti biotics. The usual dose of keflex for an abscess is 250mg 4 times a day.

bro you're jumping to conclusions way to quickly,it's probably just regular soreness from an injection.if the redness spreads or gets really tender then have it looked at.....although truthfully I would say it's probably nothing.

1cc of sustenon and 1 cc of Tren...I know it sounds like I'm jumping to conclusions but I've never had this happen before and I've done a lot of injections. It looks kind of like a rash. Doesn't hurt but is definately warm to the touch. Never had this happen with any inject before.

I work in a path lab and we have a phlebotomy department. They take blood from hundreds of people everyday and they have dropped the swabbing with alcohol swabs before drawing blood.

I think that it was a NICE (National Institute for Clinical Excellence) guideline, so this would have been implemented nationwide in the UK, it is not like they would stop doing it without evidence .

I will see if I can find the info on it

stopped swabing before a blood draw? i see why we kicked yalls ass in 1776. lol Your best fight against infection is prevention. If you get some dirty ass mofo and inject into a vein, skin whatever you run a higher risk of infection. Bottom line.

Maybe not swab before boold cultures being drawn with alocohol?

Hey chili whatever happenned? Did it go away?

Well every single time I have had any shots and lemme tell ya I have a lot more shots than some of you. Every single time I have been swabbed real quick with an alcohol pad. Its not gunna guarantee you no infection but it greatly reduces it. Not trying to be a dick either chili but ive been here since 06 and I just recently started seeing you posting even tho u have more posts than me but everytime you post its about an injection gone wrong or you think something is going wrong?

Am I the only one seeing that?

Thanks for noticing.
