In addition to EBT cards and cell phones Uncle Sugar is now offering:

If a doctor deems that someone should or needs to have gender reassignment surgery, why do we care if it's covered?

Why is that different from other medical necessities?

Any Joe Schmo won't be able to walk in and just have a gender reversal surgery at our expense that easily. They still have to prove it's necessary like with everything else, and you can't do that easily.

Any responsible psychiatrist would, in my opinion, wait a good deal of time before prescribing surgery as a fix.

I doubt many will want to get a surgery "just cuz" they have to be living as transgenders for a while before the surgery, you're mutilating your body, creating family chaos, making yourself a target of bullying, making HR research what to do about "the bathroom situation", etc
There is a lot of trauma for those who go through surgery.

That's how it would start, but then just like any other medical procedure the physicians who do the surgery will quickly develop a network of other medical professionals to rubber-stamp the diagnosis and expedite the process.

It's like getting pedicle screws implanted for spinal fusion surgery. There's a specific medical qualification for that form of stabilization, but the spine surgeons quickly learn which radiologists will always read the images so as to support the procedure the physician wants to perform.

As long as we're agreeing to blame those doctors and not the transgendered...I'm on board.
