Imminent Crash Landing at LAX

There's a plane circling with the front landing gear down but the wheel turned sideways. They're dumping fuel now.

1 mile out !

Jesus that was stressful to watch!

Nicely done on the part of the pilot! Landed safely, he kept the nose up as long as possible (slowing as much as he could on the back wheels) and then the front wheels caught on fire, but now it's stopped and the fire is out.

landed ok

That was amazing. I was so afraid that once the tires popped, the gear would steer the nose to one side or another.

One of the play by play commentators in LA said the pilot might not get paid cuz he was supposed to land in NY. I don't think he was jokin either.

I was surprised it landed without a problem, i was expecting those front gears to snap. That's some mighty awesome engineering in those front gears.

I can't believe it didn't go off to the side, the close up shows the wheels burning, then the whole thing bends.. yet when the plane finally stops, it's right on the line. Amazing.

I wonder how it got bent in the first place. I always thought they folded straight back.

I always get the impression that the media is a little bummed when the worst case scenario doesn't happen. It bothers me.

jET Blue discount flying...two wheels only
if I had the free cash I'd buy jetblue at the end of the day tomorrow
it was an airbus failure
and a jetblue pilot that handled it perfectly
absolutely fucking perfectly
in a crisis
in my mind that's agood advertisement
so long as maintenance standards don't come up short
there are very wealhty people as I type who already know entirely the history of that particular aircraft

it was fucking perfect
I wondered why the doors didn't open after the craft settled to stop
probably lots of high fives
and the crew retained control and composure throughout

probably because the tower told them there was no fire therefore no hurry.

Give that pilot a damn bonus for saving those passengers and the airlines dignity to boot!

Great going!

damn right. that guy just gave the airline about 20 million in free, A+ publicity.

if i were a passenger on the plane he'd get a christmas present for the next half century

i watched the attempted landing on the news last night...must have been scary...i can only imagine how those people on board felt

The icing on the cake: They had the on-board TVs tuned on news program that were broadcastig the drama... so people aboard were watching news about themselves and how the world thought they were going to die... That must be very relaxing
