3) The RUSSIANS did the dirty work on the continent in WWII. Without the USA, it is still possible the war would have been won by the allies. Wihtout Russia, there is no way in hell, absolutely no way. Kursk anyone? Stalingrad? Battle of Moscow? These were the battles that broke the back of the German army, which suffered horrendous losses, and helped break the spirit of the German people.

i disagree, usa did dirty work too, i spoke to veterans from the war and they have the disfigured bodies to prove it. i remember one of the guys was an italian-american guy in a wheel chair, and he was put there because he was told to advance into heavy fire. he told me how he just watched guys get picked off right next to him. as for him, half of his body was mangled because of machine gun fire. this isn't one guy, ask any veteran of the war, they will tell you if they did any dirty work. they might slap you in the face for asking a stupid question. however, i do think that russia was more ruthless and probably did more killing. this is because of stalin, he was a ruthless man and he wanted nothing less from his army. in fact he killed millions of his own people. i asked my ex-girlfriend about this, who is russian and let me tell you, she didn't disagree.

i thought it was russian cold weather that did most of killing of the german army, just like nepoleons army.

i also think the usa would have kicked germanies ass all over the fucking place by ourselves. it's too bad they surrendered, it would have been nice to drop the a-bomb on them over and over again.

usa should have taken over the world right after the invention of the A-BOMB. quoting the words of SCARFACE, "THE WORLD IS YOURS."

i will say this, i have met older french gentlemen and they were some of the most humble, nicest guys i ever met. it's just they act stupid in their own country, but it is there country so i guess they can act stupid. i'm sure people who come to usa to visit could say we act stupid too. if you don't believe me, let me take you on a drive through new york and new jersey.

These were the battles that broke the back of the German army, which suffered horrendous losses, and helped break the spirit of the German people. D-Day was really almost just mopping up (and I don't suppose you realized that the Russians rolled up the Eastern front at a much greater rate than the combined Americans, British, Canadians and non-Vichy French did on the West). Of course they dont teach you (or me, I'm American) about this shit in US history books. Go read some Liddel Hart. Now in WWI, you have a better claim, in that the US was definitely the weight that tilted the scale, but its likely WWI would have ended in a ceasefire of some sort anyway, because the British naval blockade absolutely destroyed the German economy. So basically, read some history and learn about what they DON'T teach you in 6th grade 20th century history - history cant be learned from beer commercials (or whatever commercial that said "we bailed you out of two big ones").

That is a misconception. Russia lost so many men and civilians because they didn't have a modern military complex AND they weren't prepared to defend their nation against the Nazis. They had signed a treaty with them and divided up Poland and other parts of Easter Europe. Remember that little tidbit? The Russians did come back pretty quickly, but they only could because of two things. One, a harsh winter slowed the Nazis down considerably, making their advancing forces very vulnerable with strung out and slowed down supply lines. Two, the Nazis now had advancing forces on two fronts thanks to the Americans so they couldn't concentrate on only one front. Let's not forget the MASSIVE bombing of Nazi industry prior to and after D-Day. We made it harder and harder for them to keep the supplies flowing.

You guys need to read a history book, NOT one meant for third graders.

fistfullofsteel - of COURSE Americans died, but that's all your little anecdotes prove. The Russians suffered more, killed more, and were in general a much bigger pain in the ass in every way but the air force, where the Brits were the biggest pain in the ass.

Dude - I know Russia originally divided up Poland, that doesn't change the fact that the Nazi battles in Russia WERE the turning points of the war. Seriously go ask any history professor who contributed more to the defeat of the German Army, the USA or Russia. They will tell you without a doubt that it was Russia. Go read some history.

Damn i like you guys......i was expecting some shit to be thrown back in forth. Its outright, france blows.

Now who sent me bad karma(ALOT) this time and is pussy enought not to sign it.

Anyway The US at the Beginning of the WW1 and WW2 did have a small forces not even prepare for war, but they were able to achieve a massive program and bring their forces from poor to a major army.

As for the Soviets, They are actually the one that won WW2, but they lost alot, thanx to the madness of Stalin who purged most officers in the red army before they were invaded by Barbarosa. Thanx Soviet, they delayed the war because they wanted to be the first in berlin
two months the Allies waited outside of Berlin so the Big Bear can invade Berlin.

The Soviets had pilots from all over the world they even had French pilots that are heros of war in Russia, rare we hear about it :(.
Same for the RAF, were US soldiers volunteered to fight for Britain.

It is stupid to say that the French are not good Soldiers they prove at many occasion
that they have one of the best army since centuries. As for their "bad adventure" in WW2
they were relying themselve on a straight line defense, one line defense, only problem in that type of defense is that when penetrated YOU ARE FUCK! And it is what happened. They were relying on war tactics based on the WW1, totaly outdated compared to the German Blitzkrieg.

To say the US saved the French is quite push, yes the US did helped the Allies in Both
WW, but they arrived in 1917 in WW1 and 1941 in WW2 quite late, yes there particpation helped to win the war, they did not win it by themselve and I think saying that is a great lack of respect to any WW vets including my Grand pa and probably some of your grand fathers too.

And I end
I agree 110% with Sylvio :D

Also to the one that sent me 3points of bad karma, what the matter truth hurt, France and the US were alway good friends from the French that helped the revolution in the 13 colonies, to LA, US and France were alway close allied and friend.

Everyone seems to be overlooking the campaign in the Pacific. Iwo Jima was a major victory for the US, and proved to be a vital island in fueling planes and shipping supplies. US's role in the Pacific ended ww2.

While overseas, I worked with quite a few French.

Cocksuckers - all of them.........

When we pay back "Iran", rest assured that Frances 15 billion dollar oil interests in that country will recieve a few errant bombs for good measure.

Bombs away frog!
