Hey Bran, I dont know what features you are looking for but I needed wifi, plus I wanted to have a media center in mine so that I can watch tv and record shows and burn them to dvd. Also edit videos and use a digital movie camera and plug it in and make my own videos and upload them for people to see and shit like that on top of the computing stuff. I wanted wifi so that I can just turn on the computer at internet cafes or wireless outside park and sit on a park bench with my laptop. Most universities have a wifi system in place so that you can be online even in the middle of class typing notes directly into your laptop so you need that.
All in all if I wanted to simplify my life I wouldve gotten an apple for the video and all creative programs but I didnt want to spend the extra dough on it. They are much more intuitive for users, seriously much better setup than regular pcs. I chose not to but I may reconsider, I bought mine last week. I wanted to do some graphic professional work with using the new IPOD that just came out today, the new line with IPOD photo in it all ready so that you can carry and download images and play them, plus voice recorder and stuff. But you can get a PDA to do that. Im leaning towards either doing a PDA handheld organizer or a ZEN labs media player, this so I can have the ability to not only make videos or edit tv shows or anything else, I can store them on my handheld player and show people just pulling it out of my pocket, also good for studying stuff and organigation. I have my reasons for work why I want to have this imaging stuff so I chose a Gateway with these features that I want, best price to feature for my use.

Also bestbuy has a great service three year protection thats why I didnt want to buy from an internet site, the prices are the same with little difference but if it breaks I can just drop it off at best buy with more reliable repair times and rates. Its worth the peace of mind to have that for me since my time is worth more than running around trying to find a place to fix my laptop should it ever go down plus they give you replacement laptop batteries and laptops are easily dropped and stuff. I like mine b/c its 17" screen hi resolution screen for watching videos and also a cdburner and two sided dvd burner so straight from tv or ripped from whatever right onto a dvd in some easy programs or other stuff like that. Same with ripping songs from internet radio or downloads and put them on cd or onto a Zen labs media player soon. Just have to sort out my PDA that Im going to buy since thatll have an mp3 player in it but the Zen labs media player I think has a twenty hour battery and 20gb, but a PDA with voice recording and also you can take notes on a screen in your handwriting and it converts it to text so you can upload and organize your notes and life, then cutnpaste them into other documents etc... And Im going to get one that has a cell phone on it as well so I dont have to carry around my laptop Everywhere, just the important stuff on the PDA and ditch the cellphone, one less piece of technology, combine it all into one simple handheld device.
Im sure dell has something similar to the Gateway I bought, its whatever brand you want.
