I'm required to buy a Laptop for MBA school, which is best?

i'll lose all respect for you if you don't get the highest resolution screen possible, you cheap arabese.

go dell.

As long as you don't need to plug into networks dells are ok. We have shitloads of problems with them at the office. I got lucky and got an off brand one (panasonic) and haven't had any problems with it and I've been using it for over a year now. It's very fast and reliable, plus it is the re-inforced model so you can drop it and it most likely will be ok. Only problem with the re-inforcing is it weighs half again as much as most laptops.

For my personal computer I am going to go with Alienware, one of my best bors got one and the thing fucking rocks. They are pretty pricey though the one I am looking at is around $2,800 and they can go in excess of 5K if you really go wild on options.

OK would you get this Entry Level 700m for $949:

http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&oc=i700mS1&s=dhs

OR

the special of the week on something called a Inspiron 6000

looks like $450 off so it's $1,031, I can't tell the difference between them?!

personally if it was me, I'd go 700m.

I like that it is 4lbs, it is super thin. VERY portable.

downside is the screen isn't all that big.

everything else is pretty standard you can add memory or HD space if you feel you must. You can put a DVD burner on, etc.

That should be fine, it's when you get into server access and file sharing that the dells bog down. Or some of our realtime data acquisition programs fuck it up pretty bad too.
