Some one please help me, I'm not sure but I think I might have Tendonitis. This is the second time it's happened but its been like 2 years since the first time, anyways, Yesterday I went to the gym and did some Preachers ( I havent done these since the last time it fucked my arms up. Anyway I woke up this morning and the tendons that connect the Biceps to the Elbow are like shrank up and I cant extend my arms past a 90 degree angle or I'm in so much pain that I cant stand it. The last time this happened it was only in my right arm, but it took like 2 weeks to return to normal. Now its in both and it's like 2wice as bad. This really sucks because I cant train anything but legs and abs. and do cardio like this. I mean am I just doomed to abandon any hopes of being the gym rat that I love to be? No, but seriously, I dont have Medical insurance right now so if anyone could tell me whats wrong with me and then give me any kinda quick fix. I'm not currently on a cycle right now (thank God) or I'd be pissing away my $ while I'm out of the Gym. Help Me PLEEEEEEESEEEEE!!!!!!

O.K, I'm Cool now. I Just Did the whole Self-Massage bit. And just Iced them for 20 min. every 4 hours for 3 days. Woke up yesterday Good as new. I might just stay away from the preacher for a while. I think that it has something to do with that certain angle that you get on the Preacher. Thanx for the advice. Peace, DOS

I had lower bicep tendon problems. I simply stopped all direct bicep training, did extra good form on heavy bent back rows and used two-handed cable curls using a short straight bar with a very close grip.

The exercise didn't cause too much pain, and eventually after two months of this, I am back on barbell curls, alternative dumbell curls and hammer curls plus the odd cable curls with no pain.

I'm not saying it will help you but that is the rehab I did worked for me so maybe its of some use mate

That is how mine felt. I just wanted to cut that MF off it hurt so bad. Aleve, ice, hot pack, and time took care of it. If I had some stronger pain killers they would have been history also.

The inflammation may last a few days but if it isn’t treated, can last for weeks and possibly months.

Avoid continuing with the activity that caused the condition in the first place e.g. exercising, typing, to prevent any further inflammation or damage to the area.

Treatment includes non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs; e.g. Ibuprofen - not recommended if you have a history of asthma, kidney, or liver disease.) and other analgesics, as these will ease the pain and help reduce inflammation.

Tendonitis and tenosynovitis improve with treatment and using ultrasound can often speed up recovery from tendonitis. You may also need an injection of corticosteroid drug around the affected tendon or directly into the tendon sheath (synovium).

If the condition is due to an infection, a course of antibiotics will be prescribed. In some cases a tendon will heal more quickly if it is splinted or covered with a firm bandage or brace but this depends on the part of the body that is affected.

Resting the area is important so that you allow the inflammation to settle. Apply an ice pack (cover with a cloth to avoid ice burns) or take a hot bath or shower to help the pain and ease the swelling. In some cases physiotherapy will be needed.

Although rare, more severe cases of tendonitis or those that do not respond to treatment may need the area completely rested by applying a plaster cast or in extreme cases, you may require surgery.

I never do preachers. Lots of strain on tendons, plus unusual position for shoulders/arms.

Ditto. I quit them years ago. They are as risky as upright rows, which are notorious for causing shoulder problems.
