You will be in the city. Lots of different people in the city. Now if you went to where biteme lived then maybe. You will be fine.

Hi Bigmann! Ok. Being from a very rural part of Texas I can tell you that ANY new person is awesome. We had so few people there that you would automatically be a legend just for the fact that you are new in town.

Since you'll be in DFW though, you can blend right in I bet. It is my personal belief that the nicest people in the world live in Texas. Seriously. They'll love you I bet!

Just be nice and whatever you do, DO NOT make fun of their accent. I get a kick out of city folk that come around and when they converse with someone, they kinda laugh and say :did yous just say yall"?

I would hope you would leave there with them having a positive image of new yorkers for a change. lol yous guys can be real pricks.

Dude stay away from Greenville Ave. Visit Metro Flex in Arlington its the shits!! I live a few blocks from there.

Lower greenville is nice. if you want something more relaxed and not so young the west end is a bit calm. Addison has a few nice bars. Logans is nice. off the beltway and I think addison.

If your in the arlington Fot worth area hit the stock yards. You oughta hit up Bikini Mom and hang out with her and the old grump. They could show ya around.

that would be sweet....

You'll probably love the D/FW area, if you are used to cities. It's crowded, traffic is impossible during rush hours, etc., that is the worst of it. We have been invaded by "yankees" for so long now because of our jobs that you find people from everywhere. If you go out, you'll probably talk to several people at the restaurant/ club as Texans do like to talk. I wouldn't be surprised if you run into somebody that lived in or near where your hometown is.

We are different from most states as we do have a love for our state that others don't. It is something that is ingrained from early childhood. We know our state song by heart and sing it with enthusiasm. It may stem from the fact that Texas is the only state in the union that was once it's own republic, with it's own president, congress and laws.

Texas is a name derived from the Caddoan Indian word "taysha" meaning "friend". Being friendly is one of the things we're best known for.

There's tons of things to see and do in and around Dallas, I hope you have some free time. BM and Grump live in the area between Dallas and Fort Worth, it would be really cool to have the time to grab a lunch or dinner w/ them if you could.

I wish I lived closer, I'm 2 1/2 hours down the road.

Hit us up dude. As others stated we live in the Dallas/Ft Worth metroplex.

I am from Jersey and I will be the first to tell you I LOVE TEXAS. Once you visit, I am thinkin it will be hard to leave. The people here are THAT NICE. :)

Correct. I live in Houston. Enough said! lol jk ;)

proof (i don't know what you look like).

my decision to go may hinge on this.

Houston has pretty girls if you go to the right places. It is not like southern Florida though where beautiful people everywhere.

There are pretty girls everywhere you go houston is no exception. Psstt. they all give head at bars in houston. You just gotta ask.

Sam's Boat is still popular if you like the patio thing. Richmond isn't as hopping like was back in the day. Most prefer downtown.

i still cant wait. thanks for all the info. im hoping i can meet up with some people from here. im always willing to party or just hang out....

Some things you should know:
-No, we do not ride around on horses (people ask me this EVERY time I go out of state).
-Most of us are nice people that are willing to help out.
-Most of us are raised to behave politely in public so saying "fuck" will get you attention.
-Texas weather is very unpredictable.
-Neighborhoods in Dallas are hit or miss. One block will have new $2000/mo apts and the next will be shitty shanties. For $1600/mo you can get a pretty nice apartment in the ritzy part of town.
-A lot of Texans are extremely prideful ("Texas is the best state in the United States! It was our choice to join the union!). This can get very annoying and the rednecks are typically the only people who say this.
-Dallas public schools suck.
-Nobody gives a shit about hockey, lacrosse, or the Texas Rangers. We LOVE football. However, because the Stars have done well this year hockey's popularity is going up.
-The traffic is horrible during rush hour, especially if you live in the suburbs. A drive from downtown Dallas to Plano (15mi) can take well over 45min during rush hour. Fortunately, the highway patrol doesn't really monitor the major city highways that much so during the day or late at night you can easily drive 90mph+ and not be worried about getting pulled over.
-The public transportation system has its uses but you will be driving everywhere.
-When it comes to beer, you will mostly see Miller Lite or Coors Lite in everyone's hand.

If you want to know anything else... ask.

Wait...you live in California???? We treat changing lanes like parallel parking at 80mph...if there's just enough room for your car, you're good to go! And if there's not enough room, you go anyway.

Hey we are headed that way too...Awesome area to be in..
Yes, let me tell you I am from Mass and the first and only time I went down there I had people laughing there ass off at my accent and the way we say things. For instance let me tell you the terms "getting hammered" and "making a uwee (slang for u turn) do not mean the same things there....They were not mean, they did however find it all funny as hell

That shit pisses me off out here. I love how they think just because they turned on the blinker they have the right to get over even if there is no space to get in.
