Though I understand the beauty and reliability of a wheel gun, I also understand how comfortable a slab side is to carry.
Do you live in a state that allows concealed permits?
Are you planning on carrying the weapon a lot or is it just for home protection?
These questions, as well as what brand/model should also be asked IMO...

For home protection, I have a S/W 357 4" revolver with glo sights as well as a mossberg 12 Ga. short stock/barrell with pistol grip.
The riot gun is my best bet at 2 am when it's dark in the house or outside on our property and you are half asleep.

To carry, I love my browning 9mm. Very comfortable

Most everyone has mentioned good weapons in this thread. Buy what feels comfortable to you and meets your needs.

basically Smith took a deal from Clinton/Gore that if they prefected a certain type of gun that limits use to one user then they would make sure police depeartments and other government agencies would use Smith exclusively thus putting the other gun makers under. Glock, taurus, ruger to name a few would not take the deal, but Smith did so now the son of a bitches should pay for selling out to Clinton.
