Hali was a-okay last weekend. Fat and hyper and healthy. Messing the with dog. She was fine just a couple of days ago. I went to let her out of the kennel this morning to play and she's so weak she can barely move. She lost a bunch of her hair. Her teeth are bleeding and she can't eat. My poor little girl.

I'm going to have her put down in the morning.

That's 2 ferrets I'll have to lose in less than 6 months. My 2 males are still healthy though. They're all pretty damn old.

I never had pets because my mother hates them, but I absolutely love animals. Those little buggers find a way to become part of your family. I was sad when I had to bring a guinea pig back to school...I took care of it over Christmas vacation for my 7th grade science teacher. Shit, I even love my roommates hamster. I want a hedgehog. I want a dog too.

She's curled up in the bottom drawer of a dresser in my bedroom (I didn't want the dog getting at her). Buckshot is all snuggled up around her keeping her warm. Poor little girl. It's just so awful when they fall apart that bad that fast.

Poor thing. I'm sorry for your loss. I hate losing pets, and I hate the feeling of helplessness when they're going downhill and there's nothing you can do to help them.

That's the rotten thing about the experience of having a pet. Since they have so much shorter life spans than us, it's inherent in the human-pet contract that they will leave us too soon, and that our final lasting memories of them will be painful. But then all animal life, including man, ends badly.

Maybe have an autopsy (sp)? Maybe a kind of flu?

She's old and sick. She looks SO bad. I was just out there petting here. Even 2 days ago she was her normal spunky self. Now I can't get her to drink water at all and she's completely limp. Poor little girl.

Awwww hun She has had a full life and all that, but its still sad when a loved one, even a pet has run the course of life. And its just tragic to see them when they get sick.

very sorry to here that. my ex had five ferrets. the oldest one was named bandit. he became sick about a year ago and he also started loosing hair and eventually lost all of it. but he got around as if he were fine. she had him on some sort of meds but can't remember what. then one day she came home from work and he was gone. wonder if it could be some sort of common illness amoung ferrets? hell, i even miss that mean little shit myself.

She had an accident on the middle level of the kennel. She was trying to get down to the litterbox. She looked upset. That made me cry for about 30 minutes. I cleaned it up and held her and she's so limp. I hope she just dies tonight snuggled up with Sigma and Buckshot instead of going to the vet.
