I saw the word "if" in the title and knew it wasn't a serious thread so I didn't post here.

depends if the oil and defense companies - who usually reserve 99% of their lobbying funds to the republicans - shift gears, fuck over the gop, and head over to the democrats - funds in the air.

but from what i've reading: the industry is having a change of heart. they realize 'wars', albeit profitable, are very complex, unlikeable and can only be done once every few decades.

the new trend: is fighting the war at home: the border war. lots of money can be spent there. as a resutl: blackwater is building a 'base' already near san diego. haliburton is busy spending money on border technology.

the defense budget will shift to border patrol and will be privatized. the democrats will approve this no problem. you heard this here first.

defense ind wants money no matter what htey do. this will piss off the oil co - but then again, the Vietraq war did dick shit for them - so i don't think they favor wars anymore.

So what you are saying is it their desicion will be based on what kind of lobbying money they get?

If the democratic party (Hillary) wins, which I doubt, we will still have a substantial number of troops in Iraq when she leaves office.

if the dems win. . .it will be business as usual. . .they already control the house and in their first opportunity to make a difference for the future of the country/world they rolled over and greased up their assholes for the big three auto manufacturers. . .they took the new efficiency/pollution standards off the energy bill due to influence from special interests. . .different hats, same fucking assholes. . .democrats have no balls. . .they'll form 17 million committees to discuss every god-blessed thing that comes up, meanwhile al cunta will be driving airplanes into buildings again. . .FUCK POLITICIANS!

I'm so torn right now I don't even know how I'll vote.

We can't leave Iraq not now or anytime soon. Yes it was a horrible decision to engage in this entire conflict but we're there, it's already happened. We can't leave. Not anytime soon.

Historically I've voted Democrat but shit has changed....we'll see.....

I'll vote Dem. if someone has the same mindset as above. I just don't see how it's possible for someone to be idiotic enough to pull out completely (unless it's w/ your girlfriend).....

Then you guys better start scratching up a candidate.

So far, the GOP hasn't been able to defeat a Clinton on anything.

Hillary isn't going to win

Nor is Obama

Sorry, there's too many white folk/religious groups who won't allow that to happen

Whose next.....?

There is a story in my language.
Two guys were standing on river shore. They saw what looked like a nice blanket floating in the middle of the river.
One of them decide to get it and jumped in the river. When he reached near the 'blanket', it was actually a bear.
The bear saw him and jumped at him. He was struggling to get away but bear was not releasing him.
After waiting for several minutes, his friend yelled from the shore, 'We need to go. Just leave the blanket alone and come back.'
He responded, 'I am leaving the blanket alone but the blanket is not leaving me alone.'

Iraq was not a threat to our security before we went in.
Now it is.
Getting in is your option.
Getting out is usually not.

Then the GOP better start producing something to pull votes.

Obama won't get the nod for sure. He is going to stumble badly near the finish line.

I am a political junkie.

Obama was a lot of froth that has settled down. He is not even pulling majority in blacks. Oprah is not going to make a difference even if ALL of her viewers vote for Obama. He CAN NOT win in general election. No one with middle name of 'Hussain' can become American president.

Edwards is just a hypocrite riding on the sympathy coat tail of his wife. For Christ's sake, while running for president, he charged $55,000 'speaking fee' from a public institution for speaking about 'poverty'!!!!!!!!!

Right now, Hillary is playing both 'experience' and 'change' cards. She had a few good weeks. Her negatives are still high. She is trying to create a 'softer' image. Will it work? I don't know. If she wins Iowa, New Hempshire and South Carolina (which seems likely), she will solidly move to centre to position herself for general election.

Juliani has just one slogan, 'mayor of America/9-11'. He could be vulnerable to a 'swiftboat' like attack from New York firefighters.
'Law and order' is just a name and a face with NOTHING to his credit. He was a no-name senator. He is pulling in 'real conservative' votes. How would he do in a very competitive election campaign?
Mccane is out because of Iraq and immigration.
Mit Romney actually may be the most competetive GOP candidate.

Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't Repulicans lose in Virginia? They would also have lost in South Carolina if there was a white democrate candidate. Bill Clinton will probaly still trounce any GOP candidate.

It's a numbers' game.
If Kerry had gotton as many democratic and black votes as Gore did, he would have won. Sept 11 created the difference for Bush. Fewer percentage of democrats and blacks voted for Kerry and higher percentage of republicans voted for Bush.
Because of immigration, Hispanics, at least for now, are strongly leaning democrate.

Independents and Iraq is going to be the key in next election.
Unless democrates scrue themselves up (and they are amazingly good at doing that), Iraq is going to be the key.
Come next November, if there are still 130000 troops in Iraq, it is going to be difficult for GOP.

I've been saying business as usual regardless of who wins the White House in 2008 since I joined EF.
Ron Paul is the only one foolish enough to pull us out of Iraq overnight.
I'll always believe invading Iraq was a noble and justifieable cause (that Rumsfeld screwed the pooch on), but that's for a different thread.

not saying the rep pool is super strong either, it's like picking between two fattys.

hey there~ replied to this post a bit ago but didn't seem to take.... McCain. Sorry Babe, Hillary scares the freaking hell outta me and Barak well, he'll get assasinated.. I'm usually a Democrat but this election has me blank for a true leader... Don't mean to offend anyone w/my Barak comment just don't think a huge portion of our population would accept an A/A President. Personally I have no prob with it but I don't back Obama for other reasons
Amie

I was talking to Bret Michaels, Kip Winger, Dave Mustaine, Dio and Gary Coleman yesterday - and we all agreed..

when you wake up from your dream - let us know.

The people who control the economy have the democrats on their payroll. And they also benefit from the war. We term them 'elitists'.

And since Bill makes plenty of money from consulting with the Sauds, and Hitlary, plenty of money from lobbyists - i HIGHLY doubt she wants to piss everyone off and go solo.

Besides, eveyrthing she's done so far - has been to appease people and win popularity. When peoploe with paychecks show up, I highly doubt she'll pull a 180 and turn into a completely different person.

What are you talking about? Exactly my point. She's talking out her ass

Obama is the only one whom I would give "a moments" credence to claims he'll get us out of Iraq. "IF" he really wants to that is.
