If cops have a warrant for something else and they see gear, are you in trouble?

Well it can be used against you if they aren't looking for it directly but stumble upon it during a search. It depends on what the warrant is for.

If it's for stolen cars and the search your bathroom then it is not admissible, but if it is for stolen handguns and they search your bathroom, and all areas which a hangun could fit and stumble upon it then damn right they can prosecute. iT HAS TO BE WITHING A REASONABLE SEARC.

Yes, if while serving an unrelated warrant the police find illegal drugs you can be charged with their possession. Like another poster said, if they're looking for handguns and open an unmarked pill container to find your d-bols then it would be inadmissable. Finally, if the police come to your door, warrant or not, and ask to search your apartment and you or your rommate agrees then you're screwed.

if it's hidden away and the discovery was not "accidental" then all the gear will be discoverable, but not usable as evidence in trial.

yup it happend to a friend of mine
the cops cam into his house becuz he was accused for sellin pills but when the cops came in all they found was juice and yes he def. got screwed for it... goodluck man...

In CA you will get screwed for anything they find. However, if they find it in an area they had no business searching, it will be thrown out in court. Like BigMarc said, if they are looking for a stolen car they can't look in your bathroom.
