Id there a big difference bewteen Xanax and zoloft??

The only thing these two drugs have in common is that they can both treat anxiety and Panic Disorder. However they work in completely different ways. Xanax is a sedative. It slows your body down. Zoloft increases the amount of serotonin which is your brain's natural "happy chemical". When anxiety reaches the point of panic attacks, Xanax can be combined with Zoloft or one of it's sister drugs in the SSRI class to alleviate the symptoms of Panic Disorder.

Thanks guys i was give the xannies instead of the zolloft i was wondering how it would make me feel different. When i am on the zoloft i feel so happy kinda like you could tell me my house burnt down and i would go oh man that sucks ... lol

Just curious, why did your doctor switch you? It sounds like the Zoloft was working well for you. Xanax normally isn't considered an option for long term treatment. Zoloft is much better for long term treatment. Xanax is highly habit forming. None of the SSRIs have much effect on me and I must rely on Xanax. I would kill for an SSRI that worked well for me. I will probably be taking Xanax for the rest of my life.

...and for those of you that use Xanax recreationally, it doesn't give you a buzz when you take it every day. I can't get a buzz off of xanax even if I take 10 times my normal dose. All it does is make me sleepy.

I still have my zoloft. We just talked about trying something different. She she wrote a script and said give it a try and see how it works .. When i take my zol it seems to work somedays and not on other days ...
