I think about seeing a shrink often

Not to "get fixed" or anything like that, but for (what I would hope would be) interesting convo. I'd be willing to pay for that type of conversation every now and then. I'd really like to throw my theories and thoughts and observations out there and get their perspective on it and then debate/discuss accordingly.

They would do that, right?
 
I would hope so because I thought about the exact same thing.

Yes, psychologist. However, I wouldn't refuse meds. Could flip em for some nice dough.

And pedophelia is not a disease. It's a choice. :)

A PhD (psychologist) cannot dispense medication. Only a medical doctor can do that (psychiatrist).

Hell, that's top of the list.

I'm sure there are rational and emotionally intelligent psychologists out there that approach situations openly and maturely.

They just write down their observations and opinions for their eyes only.
You could probably just keep posting on EF and people will just tell you what they think as well for free.

Or maybe PM everyone else and tell them what they think.

Oh no doubt. I wouldn't expect to take anything away from it other than good conversation. That's all I'm looking for. Maybe I could learn a thing or two.

it's pretty funny when you ask someone like that their perspective on your sexual escapades. or if you were wrong to threaten your neighbor and their dog with a shovel.

where i live psych grads are a dime a dozen

...and the convo isnt THAT interesting. after a while you just want to press their buttons and see them freak out...just like everyone else ;)

to interract with, have sex with, etc.?

its not a flame, its a serious question.

I'm not reading the responses, I actually went to a shrink. They don't talk to you, they throw a few things at you that causes you to have a 1 hour monologue.

The guy I went to had no interest in conversation, his interest was the connections my mind makes and how my psyche operates.

We wrapped up one day when he said, "you don't need therapy, you know exactly what you're doing and why you do it." I said, yeah, I know, it's been real, doc ;)

lololololol at throwing in sex there. don't try to underhanded "flame" me, at least go for the jugular.

no, I get more quality interaction with people that are emotionally stable/intelligent and have the ability to step out of their world and walk into someone else's without losing it.

haven't found many of those in everyday life just yet. :)

this is no grand journey I am talking about here. it's simply an idea that I think could be interesting. I'd take it for free if I could.

well, it really wasn't a flame- i thought you joked about paying for sex all the time so i didn't think it was anything you were ashamed of or embarrassed by.
It was just an observation- I wouldn't ever want sex i had to pay for, but I have talked to a shrink/therapist. I found that most of the time, they don't really talk (well ok, i've only been to one so i guess I can't really generalize), but let you do the talking.

I don't think you want to stand on any moral ground in regards to sex. Not sure what this all has to do with "paying for sex", so I'll just stick to the topic.

It would be cool to find one that really enjoys debating and interacting. I went to a few when I was real young and it was mostly me talking, but there has to be some out there that want to get into it in a positive way.
 
lol, kb, i wasn't standing on any moral ground- just stating something you like that I don't. we could have been talking about peanut butter and I would have been projecting the same amount of morals.

when i said i wasn't flaming you- i guess you didn't get it. your original post here said something about wanting quality conversation so i was just asking if you thought paying for it would get you something of higher quality, undivided attention (which is definately hard to get from anyone), or something else, thats ALL.

and by pay i mean find the girls you used to work with at the 'Sun, Hoover up an 8-ball and give them A2M in a suite high enough to give us nosebleeds

its really not that interesting. in my experience most psych kids arent as cluey as the naturally socially/emotionally intelligent people you get. they do psychology because it sounded good to their 17 year old brains at the time, and mostly have little aptitude for it. the most common situation is this (happened LOTS of times, i lived in the city that spawns the largest number of psych kids in the whole of aus):

they ask probing questions
they try to classify you
you see where theyre going with their classification
last minute you say something that blows their whole theory out
they look at you for a long moment as gears in their brain turn
they ask more probing questions
they try to classify you again
you see where theyre going with their classification...again
last minute you say something else to blow their new theory out
they freeze...again
you laugh like a hyena
they get miffed
you laugh like a pack of hyenas
they withdraw

rinse. wash. repeat.
(i know you like the last bit LOL)
 
I would think that convo over dinner with a group of intellectual types would be more satisfying in this regard. Most psychologists are not really going to have a dialogue with you. Even if they did, there is no guarantee that their conversation would be in the least bit enlightening or interesting.
 
The first thing a Psyschologist would ask you is what do you want from him/her. What are your goals of therapy, your expectations, etc.

If you said just to have someone to talk to about interesting shit, they would say why, and you'd end up coughing up some root reason that ultimately goes back to childhood. Seriously bro, do it, you can find out what's fucked up about you.

Not being mean, everyone is fucked up if you look at it from a Psychologist's standpoint. They make money based on how fucked up normal people are, so there is ALWAYS something.

nah, i'm in the "industry". always be careful to whom you are talking to about things. there are people who do this strictly to get a pay check and give 2 fucks about your welfare. just like a lot of doctors.

I did it. It was one of the best experiences of my life.
The state made me go to see him (long story).
When I was released the guy actually thanked me and told me I had amazing insight when it comes to psychology.
 
I think KB and I should go to a strip club together.
We could sit there and figure the girls out in two seconds.
I used to play a game with the girls at a strip club up here. They would describe a car to me and I would tell them what the stripper was like that drove it.
They would laugh their ass's off when they would describe the other girls cars. They would tell me I was dead on in my assessment.
I knew when they snuck their car in because they would cry when I would describe the driver... LOL.
BTW. That game was an exellent tool to get the girls to want my approval. Authority figure = sex in their world.

I'm kinda doing that right now. I orignally went in for anxiety but that has taken a back seat to just figuring out life's meaning and my role in it. The guy I go to is an ex hippy who went to Berkely in the 60's so he's on the same level as me regarding drug use. He's really big into buddhism and meditation. Really awesome to have an intellectual talk with someone like that
 
You know that shrinks have some abysmal stats don't you?

If they know how to lead such a gret life, why don't they do it?

What if your shrink kind of publicizes his/her findings to a select group and you lose any notion of privacy?

LMAO! That's funny. But seriously, psychiatrist diagnose and medicate. If you want to pick a brain, look up a psychologist with a Ph.D or licensed clinical therapist

LOL. Yes, the old 72 hours! However, it is usually 5 day minimum for a 302 (involuntary)...don't talk about killing yourself or anyone else.

if you got that kind of jack to entertain yourself some wednesday afternoon
go for it
if you're sharp enough to get entertainment out of assessing the assessor
still waisted money
