ok i saw this a little while ago, and i agree, it was shit...although i predicted it as well. my issues were:
1) why they need a pyramid to justify the storyline? right off the bat that totally killed the immersibility of the film. i wanted to see aliens and predators clash, not be confronted with the idea that my ancestors were slaves to the predators etc etc...what a load of bullshit. something about the alien and predator films is that they are all so believable (particularly the alien franchise), but THIS....please. total bullshit
the idiot producers spent millions on props/sets anyway, so they could have done whatever they liked- did they have to set the film in 20th century earth? why not in the future, or in space. hell if they ahd to have it in 20th century earth why not inside a huge predator ship that was infested with aliens en route to earth for yet another hunting trip, crashlanding on earth, and then take it from there?
2) i hate having everything explained to me. archaeologists are not godlike, and i cannot accept that those idiots could read hieroglyphs in this supposed bullshit pyramid well enough to understand wtf was going on. stargate, anyone? the whole movie smacked of jurassic park 3...which sucked severely.
i could type more but the whole thing pissed me off. they tried to mash together every cliche from both franchises, and ended up with a steaming pile of crap. they should ahve kept it simple, focused on good characters, well crafted action (NOT the bullshit we were fed) and made a decent film. look at the first alien film- hardly any action, excellent characters, good dialogue, no bullshit jurassic parky explanations...great film. AvP was stomach turning imo.
