I'm currently on a low low carb diet. I only take in 25 grams of carbs in the morning before hitting the gym. I down a packet of Isopure and the hit the gym. Come back and only take protein. No carbs at all from there on. Don't know if that is right or wrong, but I need to shed fat. So far it seems to work quite well. But I admit I have stopped losing fat and my muscles are soft and I seem to have lost strenght and yes...some muscle too. But of course on the weekends I eat everything in site. Am I doing this wrong? Should I add a little bit of carbs after my workout also? Just trying to lose fat but keep as much muscle on as possible. Hell! Trying to gain muscle too! Why not....right!? So bottom line...I need someone to correct my diet and I need someone to help me formulate the most kick ass pre/post workout protein!!! And I would also like a nighttime protein too. And nothing that gives me gas or shit like that. NO LACTOSE!!! I'm intolerant to that shit!!!

Without enough carbs before your workout, your body will enter a catabolic state.. not what you want. If you really want to use a low/no carb diet, check out some or Mr. X's articles. He knows his shit.

Also, you'll probably have better luck posting this on the diet board. I'm no expert, but here's my opinion:

If you want to use a low/moderate carb diet (I do this all the time to lose fat with great results.. but people vary) I would recommend consuming your carbs around your workouts.

First, read up on r-ALA and pick up a bottle.. I'll recommend Glucorell R because it's the only r-ALA I've used, and I love it.

Pre-workout carbs are a must.. pop a Glucorell R and then down some dextrose. Post workout, down some more dextrose with your whey, and then pop a couple more glucorell about 45 mins to an hour later and have a moderate carb/high protein meal.

Other times of the day make sure you're consuming good fats and slow-digesting proteins (chicken, casein, egg, etc.. NOT whey) and a low amount of carbs (along with the Glucorell R of course).

I think you'll enjoy this type of diet a lot better then an extremely low/no carb diet.

And about protein factory -- order some CFM whey isolate for quick digestion (ex post workout), and an obvious choice for a nighttime protein would be their night time formula (very good stuff). For the rest of the day you might want something like penta protein (blend of different proteins). Just make sure you get the whey for quick digestion and atleast 1 other type for slow digestion.

also divide your meals into 6 small servings thruout the day.

How about I take 25 grams of carbs before and after my workout?? And then take no carbs after that for the rest of the day? And you say Whey? What about Bovine? Wouldn't that be better? And as for carbs...wouldnt their rice carb be better?

What Ippon said is definately what most people are doing and will definately work for most people. But i want to say at times I dont take carbs in pre or post workout and only take in protein these are all shakes btw, and then keep the rest of food meals low or no carb. my performance in the gym and on the matt definately suffers but so long as i keep my protein up fat will drop very quickly for me and i dont loose much muscle until i am under 8-10% bf at that point i need to add carbs pre/post workout or i loose way too much muscle.

i dont recommend this i definately recommend carbs pre and post workout for most people but i found this works for me.

also the first thing i add is carbs pre workout.. not post workout..

also if cutting.. dont eat everything in site on the weekend.. i do that when i slip upa nd i really feel that after doing that the next 3-4 days are just trying to make up for a weekend binge.. i would carb up on the weekend but i wouldnt go above maintenance cals or if you do only slightly..

Good Luck!!!

Include lots of green fibrous veggies they will fill you up and make you feel satiated..i would only use 2 protein shakes pre & post w/o..the rest of my meals would be whole foods..great nighttime protein is egg whites..Like ippon said i would definitely check out Mr. X's stuff..just one observation though if your not going to run a ckd and are just cutting carbs why not cut 25% every couple of weeks rather than go xtreme.because lets say you just wack ur carbs down to 25 grams what are you going to do 6 weeks in when ur weight loss slows or stops, doesnt leave you much room to manipulate things..just a thought good luck
