I nailed that PR on deads

Weighed in at an even 180 (up from 165 about 2 months ago) and my sets looked like this:

135x15 (trying to warm up...it was cold in the gym)
225x6
275x4
315x2 (felt oddly heavy...doubt started running through my mind)

I loaded up 370...my partner helped me get my wraps in place, and kneeled in front of me. I took a deep breath and up it came, fucking easy! I glance down, my bud is taking his hand off the bottom of the bar  I gave him a look and "back off" squeezed out between my teeth :D
I stood at lockout for a second and knew I had to hit an unassisted rep...I went down and FUCK YEA, I brought that shit up again!!

So I'm pretty psyched about nailing that weight, and DAMN it feels good!
I think I may be done for awhile attemtping 1RM. Think I'll work on some 315 for awhile, and try and nail some PR's for reps.

Thanks for helping get me phsyched up bros! You helped me nail a great workout yet again, you guys KICK ASS!!

Rojas, I upped the ante just for you brother :D You got that shit no problem!! Show me how it's done bro!

Knew you had it in you! when you going to try 385?

Not sure bro. I think I may do some rep work with 315 for awhile. Combine that with heavy rack pulls and other back routines for a bit, and attempt another 1RM PR in a few weeks.
Until then though, there are PR's to be had in relation to how many reps I can get with 315!!

Good job bor. I just recently started deadlifting with any type of regularity and got up 400. I'm sure the weight will go up drastically as I get more used to the movement.

Sweet bro, keep it up. My first dead session was about 3 months ago, and I pulled 275...so almost 100lbs in that time period, so you have alot to look forward too!!

I knew you would KILL that shit!!!!!! If your not gonna max for a while on rack deadlifts or regular deads, then I expect some rep PR'S!!!!! Atleast one a week!! So make sure you get it!!!!

Fuck.

You couldn't hit 365 last week, and did 370 easily THIS week?

PR machine :) That's rad.

I don't know if I'd say I did it "easily", that shit was heavy, and I grunted like a mofo about halfway up :FRlol:

LOL :)

You did say, "I took a deep breath and up it came, fucking easy!"

But I know exactly what you mean. It's all a matter of perspective. Had you recorded it, it probably would've looked terrific but felt like it was bolted to the floor.

Regardless, damn good job!

Yea, on that first rep it did come up pretty easy, so I am thinking my partner was helping me...even though he says he really didn't help much at all....I dunno, but I wanted that second unassisted rep.
Thanks again bro!

That's what I'm here for :) You're certainly welcome.

hey bud - don't mean to rain on your parade, but a deadlift max needs to come from pulling dead weight off the floor. when you start from the lockout position, you've got momentum assisting the lift you when you come back up after lowering the bar to the ground.

still, good work because it sounds like would've gotten 365 without any help from a spotter. also, why have a spotter in front of you on a deadlift max attempt? the only possible purpose that person could serve there is helping you move the weight as there's no way you're going to get injured by getting trapped under the bar.

do some rep work in the 300-315 range and give your back a break from the maxing attempts because it's a good way to get injured if you continue to go up and up every week. both your muscles and your tendons need time to catch up with your confidence. you should be able to hit a good 5-6 reps with 315 if you're around a 365 max.

Nice work.

Not sure how that spotting thing worked with deads! I wouldnt want anyone anywhere near the bar when im lifting, and I certainly wouldnt want to be standing right in front of someone who is on their limit.

Don't worry, you didn't "rain on my parade"...nothing anyone says would make me lose the feeling of nailing that PR:D

And, I didn't intentionally have a spotter...and if you read what I said again, I didn't even realize he had his hand anywhere near the bar until I reached the top of the movement, and I was kinda pissed at him...thus my desire for an "unassisted" rep.
And I agree with ya, I'm gonna take a few weeks and do some rep work with 315.
