FYI, I'm not very fond of people teasing me about my hearing. I may not know what you're saying, but I would know you were having fun at my expense and I'd get tempermental.

if hypathetically, we were an item, and i really loved you, i would HAVE to make fun of your hearing. hearing just wouldnt be an issue so id think of it as just a little teasing. but if i hurt your feelings i would hurt too, and do everythng to make you know i loved you and the jokes were something i was doing because i loved everything about you, and was having fun with it, as opposed to being mean and cruel

There are some jokes that I'm fine with (like the "what?" earlier in the thread...I always fall for it and I always laugh at myself afterward). One of my best friends teases me all the time (she'll say in a loud old lady voice, "turn you're hearing aid on!"). What she doesn't do, though, is talk in soft tones to tease me in the way jack was describing. Jokes I can laugh along with. But that's just not nice because it plays on my frustration. Sort of like making faces at a blind person and laughing, and the blind person doesn't even know why you're laughing.

Jh1, Jack is just playing...give him a break.
