on the last hand I got pocket 8's, the guy next to me got pocket kings, I had a bigger stack so I took him all in and got trips on the flop, haha! That dude was pissed.

Sorearms, people like you often mistake winning with being good at hold 'em. You live under the illusion that you will win on a constant basis, simply because you got lucky once. Chances are, you will probably lose your money many times in the near future to your coworkers, all the while wondering how someone as good as yourself can lose after winning that one time.

NO but seriously, you got lucky...it goes to show the best player doesn't always win. Pocket kings are about a 4:1 favorite against 8's...that guy must have been pissed, lol. How many people do you play with at lunch?

I don't think that I'm good, and this isn't the first time I play. I know the rules and all that other junk that people like you hold dear when playing the game, but just like you stated, the strongest starting hand doesn't always win the game. Sometimes you have to say fuck it and see what the flop gives.

So lets say you're on big stack, going heads up with a short stack (I had take everyone's chips already) and you get pocket 8's. Would you take him all in?

oh, and the point of this thread wasn't that I was happy 'cause I took a few co-workers lunch money. The point is that it's funny how angry people get when they feel entitled to win becasue they got pocket aces, or pocket kings (as in this example) and get taken out by a lesser starting hand. There is so much to consider before asking myself this question.

1. What type of player is he?
2. What starting hands does he consider strong?
3. What are the blinds, exactly how much do we have, and who is on the button? (even though to me position heads up is not that important)
4. Did he just lose a big pot? Is he on tilt?
5. Do I really want to risk losing my stack to a coinflip? If he is holding 2 overcards the odds are 50/50 my 8's will hold up.

But it was only 5 bucks. So who gives a fuck. I'd say yes. But in a bigger tourney or cash game all of the above apply.
