Woman lied about rape in First Hill garage

A woman who told police she had been raped in a parking garage in the First Hill neighborhood last Friday lied about it, police say.

The female medical worker told police she'd been raped inside a parking garage shortly before 6 a.m. near Seattle University and Swedish Medical Center by a man wearing a hooded sweat shirt and ski mask.

She said the man charged at her and implied he had a gun. She was taken to a hospital for medical treatment.

Alerts went out to employees at the 600 Broadway Medical Center, Seattle University students and Swedish Medical Center staff.

Police said they believe the victim suffers from medical issues, and they will not pursue charges.
