The first time I saw it in 2d and was pretty meh on it. Nice to look at but I was getting antsy halfway through.

I saw it today in IMAX 3D and didn't want it to end. It was the most incredibly immersive experience I've ever had at the theater and was so completely different for me that the movie seemed fresh, the story new (even though, as before, the basic premise is a little tired and old). I actually got goosebumps more than a few times from the visuals, I was that drawn in. I don't know what it's like in regular 3D but holyfuckingshit in IMAX 3d it was absolutely insane. Worth every dollar spent to make it and if I had the damn time for it I'd go back and see it in IMAX 3D again.

On a side note, I am off to blue waters and 85 degrees for a few days....see y'all on the other side.

will be making this my mission for friday evening now

thanks :)

might be a stupid question but what is the difference between 3d and IMAX 3d? lol

The IMAX screen is bigger. I think it makes a difference in terms of how your eyes adjust to the 3D. I've seen other movies in 3D that since they didn't take up most of my field of vision my eyes were constantly trying to adjust and I walked away with a headache. With an IMAX screen, if you sit in the right spot it's like actually being there.

The IMAX screen is round like a dome, you don't need 3D glasses but it still looks 3D.

3D is a regular screen with dual projectors and you just need the glasses to see it in 3D.

The IMAX screen is domed and enormous. But you still need 3D glasses for IMAX 3D.

Here is the $65 question - would you sleep with one of those big blue dudes?
