I think the reason people have a problem with someone else speaking another language in front of them is they are worried they are talking about them. Which normally they are not. I am only fluent in English. I know a little French a little Spanish a little German and a few phrases in Polish.

That reason may be true, however, there's no excuse for ignorance. Tiger was out of line for sayin' what he said. It was plain ignorant & showed his lack of maturity.

I have no problem with people speaking in whatever language they want...what I DO have a problem with is being answered in French first when doing business in Ottawa. WTF!!! It's Ontario, for the love of God!!! I used to lose it on office workers when I attended the University of Ottawa. Everytime I'd call Registrar's Office, Department Offices...always French first. It's ONTARIO, you bastards!!! Think about how aggravated a Mexican would be if he or she was doing business in Mexico and was always addressed in English first. I don't know why we're subjected to it as Ontarians when in Ottawa. Damn Liberal government always bends over to appease French-Canadians here.

I can't stand the fucking Canadian government always bowing down to Quebec just so they won't separate. Big pet peeve

Hitman my issue with the french is when they make you speak french and there english is prefectly fine. My french is not that great so it is painful and embarrassing for me to try to speak to them. Plus they are sometimes extra snotty cause my French is so bad.

I am particularly annoyed by Indian convenience store owners who are rude and can't speak english. How do these people get in the country. I think people should be given an aptitude test before they are allowed in, otherwise go back to where you came from.

I have no problem with people speaking a foreign language, but if you can't speak English I don't think you should have a job where you have to deal with the public. I went to a mall in McAllen Texas and the majority of the women in the stores didn't speak English and couldn't answer my questions. It was annoying to say the least. I also don't think it's right that people graduated from my high school without being able to speak any English.
