Two times in the last two months, I've had to report a lost/stolen card from some Gamer dork/hacker using my fucking Debit card number. Fucking gamefly, xbox, netzero purchases. rather than using a 2nd debit card, i'd just use a credit card. it's easier to get charges reversed, and if they jack your number they don't have direct access to your bank account.

yeah, i've noticed CC companies are a lot quicker to contact you about suspicious transactions than a bank is too.

they are usually on the ball with fraud. the big thing with debit cards is they can empty your checking account, and that's going to fuck you up a lot more than some porn charges on a CC. even if you are on top of it, you'll still be without all that money until things get straightened out.

Yeah. If I was a hacker I'd use my skills for good. I'd hack your money back for you lol. Which would probably make me a better hacker, and could probably also get me noticed by companies who'd be willing to pay me major bank. I think good can spread faster than people think. Too much shit out there that discourages people.

if u pay your balance on time every year, they know you're just scamming them so they'll hit you with a fee. If you carry a balance, you pay them interest. Either wya, they get yo money yo.

Uh, no. I've had the same credit card for over 5 years. I make $300 off them every year in cash back. NO fees.

Also, 100% agreed with redshirt, only use CC's for online purchasing for the exact reasons he mentioned. You can get ANY charge reversed even if you actually bought something, at least once or twice. And they don't have access to your bank.

One time I visited the same liquor store twice in one night back in college (blackout). The next day I thought they double charged me and I called and got one reversed. Friends later told me I actually was there twice that night....ahhh...college....

It's out of control. My wife and I are VERY careful with credit cards, and we just got hit last week by what the bank calls "random number generators". I guess it's a computer that spits out and tries 1000s of made-up credit card numbers, and when it finds one that works for $1 authorization, they sell the number to a fraudster. No loss for us, as the bank caught it before we did, and they un-charged anything that wasn't ours, and we got new cards in a week. But it's frustrating (and frightening) to know that you might wake up and find out you just bought a $50,000 flower bouquet in Zimbabwe.

I received an e-mail yesterday from Paypal, in Korean.

I went to Paypal.com and as soon as I logged in, the site switched the language to Korean characters. I knew immediately someone had compromised my account and switched it to their native language to navigate more easily. Called them and got it worked out. They had flagged the account as restricted almost immediately. Nothing was moved from any of my accounts but, shit pisses me off, props to Paypal tho.
